From a certain scene which brought tears to my eyes, it was like the freaking floodgates opened and I COULDN’T STOP CRYING. When I got like 85% through this book I was worried that I was predicting so much was going to make it so I didn't cry, but nope it didn't/ I was a blubbering mess by the end. I think this book would be perfect for anyone wanting to ease into NA, or readers who love Ya, but are looking for something that deeps it's toe into something a little more adult. The last 25% was supposed to save the book (it's why I didn't DNF), but all I did was roll my eyes even more then.Gus Gus Gustov my heart melted for him, his Intense loving nature, you can't do anything but love him. This is one book that has left its indelible mark on my heart, a book that I will champion from now on. As the book progresses and their relationship develops slowly, both of their hidden secrets (that the reader is privy to) are revealed and that completely changes their relationship dynamic.

This author clearly shares my passion for music and made it so it became an extension of her story as it wove through the pages.Kate has a best friend named Gus, who is a rock star, who loves her, but doesn't say shit, because she deserves someone better. After enduring hardships no one should have to face Katie’s optimistic outlook in life had her coined as Bright Side by her best friend Gus.

She's so brave, so strong, so drop-dead gorgeous, so caring, so loving, so talented, so smart, so positive, so kind, and so on.Not to say that their character development wasn't thorough but there was just something off for me, I can't quite place it. From the beginning, I was skeptical with Katie because if you read as many books as I do, you question any character who believes in “only living once” or “live life to the fullest”. She falls in love with a guy, who's a father in his 21 years, whose wife died 4 years ago, meaning he had his daughter when he was 15-16. She’s also a selfless one; Kate keeps everything to herself (sometimes not even clueing in the reader until she finally opens up to another character) simply because she doesn’t want to burden the people she loves with her suffering.
