I purchased 2 socket head cap screws 5/16 x 18 x 1 1/2" and used 16 5/16 flat washers (8 per side), loosen the rear screws that attach the base to the chair bottom, remove the 2 front screws and replace with the longer screws and washers. The chair itself feels sturdy and if I could have got my keyboard tray and chair arm rest to be close to the same height I am postive I would have kept it. it must be the ideal choice for those needing the strongest chair when sitting for long periods at a time. Only problem was that on the bottom piece there were no holes visible to put the metal piece on the chair.
