About this deal

but i think this story explores a lot of great topics that surround people who are in the vulnerable transition period between high school and university, between youth and adulthood. i read this book because i have no intention of supporting the author and i wanted to get rid of this book off my shelf despite my liking towards it. It comes as a relief that Beyah was even able to contact and go to live with her absent father and his new family I might add. After carving her path all on her own, Beyah is well on her way to bigger and better things, thanks to no one but herself.

A 19-year-old Kentucky girl—the product of a one-night stand—finds her addict mother dead and ends up spending the summer in Texas with her father and his family. This is a romance story about two broken people finding hope in each other again, as well as a coming of age story. For all her nineteen years Beyah has known no different it’s been a constant struggle for survival with no one to rely but herself, as for her mother there has never been a mother daughter relationship to speak of only providing a tatty roof over her head was as good as it got but that came to an abrupt end. Because of it I want to spent a summer on the beach, staying in a stilt house, exploring the dunes, going swimming at night (or not). The plot twist of both of Samson's parents being dead and the guy from the hurricane was actually his Dad and he was actually homeless and his family didn't actually own the house he was living in next door, that was pretty shocking. No matter who Cierra was in high school, or who I was, we’re all made up of more than our past behaviors, good or bad.

I'm so glad though that Beyah still went to college and lived her life and she got into law school, what a badass. Heart Bones is essentially a beach read, Colleen Hoover style, which means it’s heartbreaking and intense. Not only does Heart Bones deal with difficult subject matter such as drugs and addiction, but it also contains sexual content that might not be suitable for younger audiences. Trust was another issue for Beyah but again after realising her stepsister Sarah was genuine that too comes as a relief for many reasons. Despite my grievances or it could be because of my period and I’m hormonal, this book made me so emotional I hurt and I cried. For the characters in Colleen Hoover’s 2020 novel, heart bones are things you grow when you fall in love that make an actual broken heart possible. It’s a relationship that’s built up so naturally and honestly that it makes the novel’s turning point a heartbreaking one, and turns the story from something sweet and familiar into something that’s raw, heartfelt and memorable. Not only is this book based on Taylor Swift lyrics, but The Summer of Broken Rules has noticeable similarities to Heart Bones that make it a great option for you to jump into next.
