About this deal

But through this book, Joe is also an incredible advocate for those struggling with addiction and/or their mental health. He's been acting like an idiot and talking about his broken brain on Twitter for a while now, and since March 2020 when there were suddenly a lot more people with a lot less on, his videos have been viewed over 90 million times. He holds himself to full account, and doesn't blame his BPD for the bad things he's done, but he wants others who may have the same struggles to know they're not alone. He's starred in many TV shows including Hollyoaks, Coming of Age and The Great Outdoors, and he's the host of the BAFTA winning 'The Dengineers'.

Even though it's a tough listen at times, I will definitely be revisiting this book and listening again. On another occasion, he breaks down the word hopeless – it does not mean he has no hope, just that he has less hope than others. Tracini then proceeded to rap his way through tongue-in-cheek lyrics littered with some truths about his condition.I wish he’d covered why BPD is now considered a pejorative term (outdated and often catch all for people who have had trauma, they often don’t get well or the help they need because they’re judged as narcissistic, unstable/unable to get better, it’s not a coincidence that most people with BPD are AFAB); I don’t love that he talks about going off all medication…meds saved my life and through most of my 30s I didn’t want to be on them…I fear his story will encourage people to do the same. As a person with mental illness, (depression), I really felt what he went through and on Twitter I cheered him on and expressed compassion. Just a small monthly donation by a handful of people will achieve this and you can be safe in the knowledge that any extra money we make via these donations will go directly towards helping others with BPD. Despite his poor mental health, Tracini has had a stable professional life – he has rarely been without work.

Having Holly in my life has made me feel more capable of some sort of future, though I can’t think long term. It is never complacent, though, it doesn't pontificate, and it certainly doesn't make light of any of the major issues and topics it touches. Such as recognising the important fact that our thoughts aren't our identity and that not everything our brain tell us is true. If you don’t know who Joe is then please do seek him out on social media as he will definitely make you laugh and smile whilst raising awareness of one of our most taboo subjects, suicide, who’d have known that was possible? He knows that nobody will turn up to see him; they will be there for Mick, the abusive loudmouth in the BPD T-shirt.In the videos, he explains that being suicidal is a mindset, not an event – and it is a mindset he is constantly trying to understand. Talking about the bad things you've done, mental illnesses you may have and your lowest points is possibly the most difficult thing for anyone to do.
