The saying "out of the frying pan and into the fire" is a bit of an understatement in this instance.Tabby in the audience, girls who shunned her after Dan McAndrew was murdered (and many thought Scarlett was involved … or at the very least, responsible). This task is not as easy as it sounds and the threat of what will happen if Claire fails looms over the four. Seriously, just when you think things couldn't get any worse for the guys, it does - in bucket loads. Cover: I think that by now we all know that Lauren Henderson doesn't really make her covers relate a whole lot to her books as a whole.

The latter in particular is such a cool mix of a classic story in a contemporary setting, which really worked perfectly for this book. I stumbled across the author’s TikTok and saw some of her videos promoting this book and just had to read it. Scarlett's trip starts out innocently enough … though she thinks she's going to die after listening to native Scottish music performed by men and women dressed in traditional costumes. You also start to see a different side to Oliver which was a surprise – in a good way (although whether that continues remains to be seen). Heck realises that there’s another player in this game of cat and mouse, and this time, they’ve not just caught the prize: they’ve made sure no one else ever does.I also appreciated that the FMC isn’t super angsty in second-guessing her decisions - I like an FMC who evaluates the options, makes a decision, and is more or less at peace with it - none of that wishy-washy agonizing over her own choice.
