I’m game for more of these London walks – so much to digest from the stimulating and numerous other tours also on offer. Exploring secret London – up creeping lanes, round out-of-the-way corners, past veiled islands of green – Shaughan’s at his inimitable best. Something they can revisit on their own or book again and show to family and friends who in turn will book London Walks. There are some maps also showing the walk with some red arrows showing the direction of the walk on top of the standard A-Z London map of the area.

It has proved a great success with all those who enjoy strolling London’s streets and have an interest in its history. The Monument is just a few yards down the hill from the Fish Street Hill exit of Monument Tube Station. Stop for a pint at The Palm Tree, an old-school East End pub that’s been featured in many tv shows and films. Stop for a coffee before you cross Bedford Hill road and continue to the northern part of the common.
