About this deal

This book is the first in a new series by one of my favorite HR authors (she always delivers my "musts" in books! The Duke in question is disabled and presumed impotent, and I grew increasingly uncomfortable with how that was handled, especially wrt the HEA. His thoughts about Kitty and his proclamations to her are very romantic, and the depth of his feelings for her had me swooning. Alexander has no interest in getting married, but he’s happy to play along with Kitty’s deception because of loneliness, and mutual attraction. Soon, they are involved in a chase, a clash of wills, and though he once vowed to never love again, he burns for the enchanting Miss Danvers.

Then one day Alexander finds out about the rumors and want to know everything about Katherine so he requests that all the newspapers are brought to him daily, and every time he reads the papers he becomes more and more intrigued by Katherine and decides he needs to meet her.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/NetGalley in exchange for sharing this blog post and including a fair and honest review. Steamin’ up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.

A woman’s scam of passing herself off as a duke’s fiancee succeeds all too well in this Regency love story. A 2016 nominee for the Voice Arts Award from the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAS) for her work in Tamara Leigh’s The Longing, Mary thrives on character-driven work and powerful heroines.Despite the book having some of the more classic tropes I actually thought the story was so unique due to the wonderfully written characters.

O romance é construído com bases sólidas e sem "atropelar" o que seria o mais normal na situação inusitada causada pela ideia audaciosa de Katherine de divulgar que era noiva de um Duque que ela nem ao menos conhecia. Before she knows it, Katherine has transformed herself into Kitty Danvers, charming and clever belle of the ton-with everyone eager to meet her thankfully absent fiance. I’m a 30-something graphic designer, MLIS, singer, book lover, avid world traveler, cat whisperer, whale watcher, and art enthusiast. His heart exists in cold, lonely exile until he learns he has a fiance - a deceptive, clever, and utterly intriguing woman he's never met. That injury sent his previous fiancée running and screaming from his estate, so naturally he’s not exactly willing to look upon an engagement in a positive way. Okay, a heroine brazenly declaring her betrothal to a total stranger and household staff mustering to promote their employer’s happiness are two of my favorite tropes, so I think I NEED to read this.

In the first, Macy Sorensen meets and falls in love with the boy next door, Elliot Petropoulos, in the closet of her dad’s vacation home, where they hide out to discuss their favorite books. Before the fire that took so much from him and his younger sister (whom he risked his life to save), he was entrenched in society and enjoyed the benefits he wrought as the heir to a dukedom. Even though Edward Noble was the one man on Earth she despised, Kelsy, an artist, could not refuse the l ucrative commission he had offered her for the repair of a v aluable fresco, nor could she deny the powerful longing he b rought out in her. I appreciated that the couple learned to adapt their sex life to Alexander’s disability; it’s rare to read about characters trying out different positions until they find what works. She’ll impress the ton by simply announcing she is engaged to the reclusive and mysterious Duke of Thornton, Alexander Masters, and secure strong matches for her sisters. The author throws extra bits of spiky suspense – a carriage falls into a river, political rivalries are hatched – because the book needs a bit of perky action due to the heaviness of its ridiculous plot.
