Semaglutide is a GLP-1 analogue with 94% sequence homology to human GLP-1. Semaglutide acts as a GLP-1 receptor agonist that selectively binds to and activates the GLP-1 receptor, the target for native GLP-1.

Ozempic ( semaglutide) injection is a medication used for type 2 diabetes that comes in a self-injectable pen. This pen is a device that is pre-filled with medication and makes it easier for you to give yourself the weekly injections. changes iIn concomitant use with an SGLT2 inhibitor in SUSTAIN 9, constipation and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease occurred in 6.7% and 4% respectively of patients treated with semaglutide 1 mg compared to no events for placebo-treated patients. There were 158 events of new or worsening nephropathy. Semaglutide doses of 0.5 mg and 1 mg provide adequate systemic exposure over a body weight range of 40–198 kg. The most common side effects of Ozempic ® may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach (abdominal) pain, and constipation.
