About this deal

For this exercise, we’ll assume that the fan is in place and the pipework passes through the roof with a vent terminal fitted. If you’re looking at installing an extractor fan in your home and you plan on venting through the ceiling, there are a couple of things that will need to be taken into consideration. When a ventilation duct is installed in an unheated area, such as a cold loft space, condensation can form on the inside of the duct. This moisture can run down the duct and create a potential hazard, such as dripping onto the electrical connections of a fan or cooker hood. Note - To fix this to your fan you will need to use Duct Tape or Cloth tape ( not supplied )- see picture above. Condensation traps are required on ventilation ducts wherever ducting passes through an unheated space, such as a loft.

If you have a flexible pipe above the vent pipe, it should be easy to lift it, fit the trap onto the pipe from the extractor fan, and then insert the upper vent pipe into the top of the trap. Condensation Trap 100-110mm with Overflow Connection. Fits either 100mm I.D. Pipe or 110mm O.D. Pipe Many modern homes are fitted with Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems for ventilation in air-tight houses. These systems also require a condensation trap. Mounting any fan in a bathroom ceiling will incur condensation issues and by using a Vectaire Water Trap this will prolong the life of your fan by many years.

Please Note. Our "Cut Off Time" if choosing next working day delivery is 2.30pm (Excluding Saturdays & Sundays) Finish off the job by sanding down any rough edges of boarding and re-painting the cut boarding once the glue has set and you’ve removed the masking tape. Note: Some traps have a removable collar top and bottom, so always follow the manufacturer’s instructions on fitting.

However, If a gable end wall or soffit extraction point is not an option, you may find yourself needing to extract vertically out of your roof using a roof venting kit or venting tile. This now poses a potential problem with condensation. The Vectaire Water Trap has a small reservoir that condensation can collect in and then evaporate during the day when the fan is not in use. It's simple very effective and requires zero maintenance once fitted. In this DIY guide, I’ll share my experience and show you how to fit a condensation trap in five simple steps. Then fix the ducting to the water trap and route the ducting to a convenient extraction point outside the building. Doing a dry fit before the final fix is good practice. When doing the final fix, apply glue to the ends of the pipes. The vent pipes will sit approximately 40mm into the trap, leaving a gap of 25mm.
