About this deal

The direction of the beam can be manually adjusted for either close-up focused work or as a flood straight ahead of you. Petzl ACTIK CORE: Performance One minor criticism is that the SWIFT battery is a bit awkward to remove, but given that the USB is readily accessible, and I don't actually have a spare battery to replace it with, this hasn't presented a major problem; however, if you were trying to fiddle with it wearing gloves, whilst battling with the elements on a mountainside, it could be quite awkward. Modes and Operation A red LED gives you a short-range night-vision-saving option too, for reading maps and the like. As a safety feature the red light can also be switched to strobe mode, visible at 700m and with a burn time of 400 hours.

A number of Petzl headtorches are now available with a hybrid concept battery system, which means that they can operate using standard AAA batteries or a Petzl Core USB-rechargable battery. We tested the ACTIK CORE and TIKKA CORE, and the TIKKINA over a period of months on night hikes, scrambles and climbs. It’s important to note that the TIKKA and ACTIK models are also sold as a standard, non-CORE versions, but still have the hybrid concept system and that same duality, they simply don’t come with a CORE battery included. Both the Actik and Actik Core keep things simple by only providing you with only those functions you really need: Since then there have been leaps and bounds of development, and we now have more choice of torches than ever before. You can go all out for lumens, or opt for a longer battery life; you can make it simple and lightweight, or dazzle yourself with a plethora of modes and settings; some torches have inbuilt USB-rechargeable batteries, while others even connect to your phone for programmable control. ACTIK® with a rechargeable battery! The ideal rechargeable headlamp to extend your dynamic outdoor activities. Casting 600 lumens, ACTIK® CORE provides powerful and comfortable lighting to go with you when you're running, trekking, or mountaineering. Its phosphorescent reflector makes it easy to find in the dark and red lighting keeps you from blinding those around you when you’re with a group. ACTIK® CORE comes with the CORE rechargeable battery and also works with three standard batteries, thanks to its HYBRID CONCEPT design.Continuous red lighting to preserve night vision without blinding those around you, and strobe to signal your location, especially in emergency situations The standard Actik is the best bet if you don’t need the rechargeable option. And, you can always buy a Core battery later and use it anyway, as both lamps are compatible. Standard lighting should need no introduction, because it's what we've all been used to for years: you turn on the head torch and that's that.

The headband is very stretchy and can be worn for prolonged periods of time without it causing any irritation. Any customer information held on our computers complies with the rules and laws contained within the Data Protection Act 2018. You switch between modes using the single large button. This is intuitive, unfiddly, and can be operated wearing gloves - all basic prerequisties for a headtotch torch, in my opinion. Batteries and burn timeRight then you number-lovers: The ACTIK will burn for 100 hours at its lowest level (7 lumens) with both Core and AAA batteries. At standard power, it’ll go for 10 hours with AAA’s and 7 with a Core. At maximum output, you can expect a burn time of two hours with both battery types. HYBRID CONCEPT design: TIKKA® comes with 3 AAA/LR03 batteries and is also compatible with the CORE rechargeable battery (not included); it automatically detects the energy source and adjusts lighting performance

A lightweight and powerful, rechargeable headlamp, with 3 light settings, and an impressive 600 lumens of power in a torch that weighs less than 100 grams. Petzl says: The dispersion of light is wide, even and soft edged, so you don’t feel like you’re in a tunnel or a kaleidoscope and the three light settings are appropriate for most outdoor activities, walking, running or by rope. The Actik Core has been around for a long time .It has the same hinge design as its lower-priced siblings the Petzl Tikkina, and unfortunately I had the same problems with this as i had with that. I must again stress that I tested a pre-production sample, and Petzl has promised these issues will be fixed in production units; but I still think the design is less user-friendly than the old one. The strap is identical in function to that of the Tikkina, and controls are similar: short press to cycle through brightness modes, with the addition of a long press to activate red mode. It’s an easy torch to get used to. HYBRID CONCEPT design: TIKKINA® comes with 3 AAA/LR03 batteries and is also compatible with the CORE rechargeable battery (not included); it automatically detects the energy source and adjusts lighting performance Users of Petzl's rechargeable CORE battery will be on familiar ground here. Due to its output the SWIFT RL requires a larger battery than its cousin the ACTIK, hence there is no compatibility between the two - something that may annoy some of our audience. However, when you think about the SWIFT's greater lumens and burn time, it's quite clear why. The SWIFT is providing a heavyweight amount of lighting within a lightweight and compact exterior.

The SWIFT's brightness and burn time is a little complex, and is best broken down into two categories: standard lighting and reactive lighting. HYBRID CONCEPT design: ACTIK® CORE comes with the CORE rechargeable battery and also works with three AAA/LR03 batteries (not included); it automatically detects the energy source and adjusts lighting performance

This headlamp will suit most general use requirements, not just sky watchers. It uses a single button operation that is obvious to the touch and responsive, so it can easily be operated when wearing gloves on those cold nights. The battery compartment is easy to open too, either to change the batteries or to plug it into a power bank using a micro-USB charger. As well as throwing light out a long way, the ACTIK casts quite a wide beam, not the narrow focused spot that some torches offer. I find this wider field of vision feels more natural and less blinkered. The new 600 lumen Petzl Actik Core is a powerful, rechargeable, and easy-to-use headlamp with white and red lighting.
