About this deal

Then a young man’s body is found in a local lake with his throat cut and Kim makes a link between the victim and Samantha. They both spent time at Unity Farm, a retreat for people seeking an alternative way of life. The action as well as intrigue sets immediately you start reading the novel. Eventually 10 murders occurring in the previous and present years are what Detective Stone is set to investigate. Meanwhile you are introduced to a cast of characters which is quite large. Detective Kim Stone, the protagonist here has had a difficult upbringing which left scars on her. Her minimal social skills as a result of her upbringing cannot stop her from coming to the aid of suffering innocents. The death of a headmistress who is found strangled is one of many. Later human remains are found at a former children’s home in Crestwood. These remains lead Detective Stone into the hunt for a murderer who has been active for many years. But running this investigation will need her to come into terms with her past. Warning: this series is addictive! After reading the prequel First Blood, I could not get the book out of my mind. I have a ton of books I need to read/review, but I had to stop and read another in this series instead. These are really good mysteries that take place in England.

I noticed this series was very popular on Goodreads, so naturally, I had to see why everyone was so keen on it… well now I know! It had seemed so simple. Get in, get the information, get out. But now they were getting inside her mind and she didn’t know how to stop them…The couple that offers the highest amount will see their daughter again. The losing couple will not. Make no mistake. One child will die.

Five figures gather round a shallow grave. They had all taken turns to dig. An adult-sized hole would have taken longer. An innocent life had been taken but the pact had been made. Their secrets would be buried, bound in blood … Hours before, Steven Harte had walked into Halesowen police station and confessed to having information that would lead Kim to Melody. And he told Kim she’d have a more urgent problem to deal with first. Now Kim must play Steven’s twisted game if she’s to find Grace alive. I do all sorts of crime thrillers - especially the Scandi ones - but always endeavour to try out and support home-grown talent. Silent Scream might possibly be far better NOT as an audio book (or perhaps a better narrator)! As stories go, it has all the elements of a disturbing and unsettling crime.MY THOUGHTS: The cover states that this is an edge of the seat serial killer thriller - and yes, it does deliver what it promises! I am a hardened crime and horror reader, so hardened to difficult and gory moments, yet scenes in this book, whilst not graphic still disturbed me hugely. This was mainly because of the way the author portrays the viewpoint of the killer/s. How he/she sees the victim. It left me angry, saddened and all sorts of other feelings. Pretty much the same as Kim Stone is feeling. I was right with her in wanting to catch the bad guys let me tell you.

After reading #16 and #2, I decided maybe it was time to read the book that started it all. 1. I can't believe this is a debut. And 2. I can't believe this was published in 2015. So in 7 years Marsons has pumped out SIXTEEN Kim Stone novels??? Homegirl is WORKING working. Respect. Then the body of a young woman is found dead by suffocation and Kim makes two chilling discoveries. The victim spent time at the clinic too, and her death was also staged to look like a suicide. Anche la scrittura, di basso livello. Non so nella versione inglese, ma in quella italiana avrò contato almeno 15 scoppi di risate. Imbarazzante e fastidioso. Dialoghi da orticaria. With only twenty-four hours to make every second of Steven’s interrogation count, and scan his behavior for hidden clues, Kim and her team soon link Steven to the abduction of several vulnerable girls – two were kept for a year and then released, unharmed – but where are Melody and the others?

As the body count rises, Kim needs to stop the murderer before they strike again. But to catch the killer, can Kim confront the demons of her own past before it’s too late?" I recommend this book to those who only want to eat. I don’t recommend it to those who want to cook too. But when human remains are discovered at a former children's home, disturbing secrets are also unearthed. DI Kim Stone fast realizes she's on the hunt for a twisted individual whose killing spree spans decades. Beneath the retreat’s cosy façade, Kim and her team uncover a sinister community preying on the emotionally vulnerable.Lots of questions went through my mind while I was reading this: Who is the current killer? What is his/her motivation? Is this the same person responsible for the remains found at the children's home? Is there more than one killer? Whose body was found at the children's home? D.I. Kim Stone is on the case and the reader knows early on that she has demons in her past. Maybe it is just me, but has anyone else noticed the trend to have female investigators have troubled pasts? Or perhaps, maybe it is just coincidence that my book choices have contained these types of characters. hmmmm
