We have a Berghaus Air 8 tent for our camping trips. It’s a nice size and there is plenty of space for our family of 5 (and often guests). Once the tents are up, we closely inspect the interior of each one and rate them on how likely campers are to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience that meets their needs.

However, there is one piece of camping kit that is worth it’s weight in gold and we don’t know how we could ever manage without it again – we have been spoilt. The Berghaus Air 600 is an inflatable tent from world renowned outdoor gear manufacturer Berghaus. The Air 600 is introduced in 2023 as the successor to the Berghaus Air 6 and Berghaus Air 6.1 tents. It has a stylish all blue colour scheme and a more upright design to give it 20% more living spaceThe Berghaus Air 600 can be pumped or deflated in a matter of a few minutes and is far more convenient than a conventional tent that uses heavy and bulky poles. A pre-attached bedroom speeds up the pitching of the tent as does the double efficiency pump that is supplied. The Berghaus Air 600 is a tunnel tent and is comfortable to live in with it's full head height in both bedrooms and living areas. The air beams are sturdy and are made from TPU to ensure they provide lots of strength when it is windy.

Tents with rigid poles made of stainless steel or aluminium are for building a rigid frame that will keep your tent sturdy in the wind. They can be heavier and more cumbersome to pitch, though. Divider curtains give the option of a single 6-person bedroom, a 4- and 2-person bedroom, or 3x 2 person bedrooms The Berghaus Air 6 XL Air tent is a quality inflatable family tent designed to take the stresses and strains out of family camping. This spacious tent is ideal for groups or families looking for extra space. The extra space it gives is approximately 3.5 x 2.5 metres. We also use the porch area to dump all of our wet and muddy walking gear. This means that the main living space doesn’t get as dirty as it would if we were tramping about through the entire tent. It makes for a great changing area, and all in all it allows us to keep the main living area less cluttered, cleaner and easier to get around. If I had to recommend an alternative to the Berghaus Air 6XL, one that has great living space, decent size bedrooms and good specs on the fabrics used, I’d recommend the Kampa Croyde 6 Air Tent (2019 model) or the very similar Kampa Dometic Croyde 6 (2020 model). The Berghaus Air 6 XL Air tent is a quality inflatable family tent designed to take the stresses and strains out of family camping. Easy to inflate high performance air beams create a stable tunnel construction which delivers outstanding internal space, head height and weather protection. We consider how easy it is to get into and out of the main entrances and sleeping compartments, how bright and roomy the living spaces are, and if we consider there to be enough room for the number of people intended to sleep in the tent. Another example could be the Quechua Air Seconds 6.3, that has a strange 2+2(+2) layout that I didn’t particularly like, but it could work for some people. A tent with more than one door can help with airflow, assisting with ventilation and also gives you more flexibility to enter and leave the tent through the most convenient doorway. 8) Number and size of windows

Overall, with a bit of practice and a bit of help, pitching should not take longer than 15-20 minutes. A good rule of thumb is to go for a tent that's claimed to sleep one more person than you need. If you're a family of four, for example, we'd recommend going for a five-person tent. There are also tents with inflatable poles. You'll need to pump up each pole individually, so it can take a bit of effort, but you can avoid trying to feed the poles through the tent canvas.
