You would expect the prices of older vacuums to go down rather than up, but we've found that some Dysons end up being sold for a price that well exceeds the original amount – even several years after they were launched.

Models in the same range (eg the V15 Detect range or the V11 range) usually have the same core machine – the only difference is the accessories and supplied floor heads. Cylinder Vacuums – the cylinder vacuums of Dyson can remove dust from all sorts of floors and will follow you around your home with greater control. In terms of performance, the V8 is clearly the superior vacuum. The longer battery life and improved bin design make it better suited to thorough cleaning. It has a slightly lower suction power on normal mode, but the V8 engine is more powerful on max mode. V8 models also come with Dyson’s best floor heads for more effective carpet and hard floor cleaning. Take a look, and you’ll think nothing had changed from its predecessor. Don’t take that as a negative, though: Mr Dyson is well-known for eye-catching, yet practical home appliances and the: “if it ‘ain’t broke don’t fix it” approach rings true here more than most. With that, and not with a simple one-button press, you’re only draining the battery as and when you need to, even if it is a touch sensitive. You don't have to keep changing attachments. It's easy to store - the most challenging aspect was hanging the "charging" station. (You can just use the cable if you want.) It's handy to know that the hoover only weighs 2.3kg, so its manoeuvrability is pretty nifty. Impressively, this didn’t drop at all while the battery was draining, or when the bin was half or even almost full. Heating – the Dyson Hot+Cool fan features a fast even room heating and powerful personal heating as well as the jet focus control.It’s not just about performance though, as V8 models are more expensive – and the V6 isn’t cheap in the first place! For this reason, choose the V6 if you want a vacuum for daily cleaning and would prefer a lower price rather than a longer run-time. Recycle your old vacuum for free Using one of the motorised brush heads will reduce this to 15 minutes, and engaging the Max mode lowers it further to six minutes total runtime. Max mode is only really necessary for big spills, and isn’t needed for day-to-day cleaning.
