About this deal

In the US, Bluey is the #1 new license in the super plush category** and was the #2 top new growth property in 2020 for the total toy industry. Across Disney Junior and Disney Channel in Q1 2021, Bluey was the #3 most watched TV series with kids 2-5***. Livy Coare, Licensing and Marketing Manager at H&A, said: “H&A has a long-standing history with BBC Studios and we are thrilled to be working with them again to develop creative and innovative products across both Bluey and Hey Duggee. We are aligned with the BBC in our strategy to further develop sustainable products for kids’ bath time, and will be working closely together to execute exciting new product development.” The colours of Pluto and Mercury are swapped. In the episode, Pluto is a purple-ish gray while Mercury is a shade of brown. In reality, Mercury is a blue-ish gray while Pluto is a red-ish brown. The song Bandit sings, 99 Bottles of Thing on the Wall, (later re-used in Baby Race) is based on 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, with lyrics changed avoid the alcohol reference.

The other planetary songs like Mars the Bringer of War, Mercury the Winged Messenger, Uranus the Magician and Neptune the Mystic are either not used, or not credited in the closed captions. What follows is set of scenes on how everything ends: an empty hallway, a faint light on a glass of water on the side of the parents' bed, Bandit and Bluey hugging together comfortably on the floor as they're equally covered by their blanket, and Chilli triumphantly having the entire parents' bed for herself. Then, as the scene transitions to the same planet Earth on the cover of Bingo's book, it pans to Bingo; happily embracing Floppy and sleeping tightly on her bed, just as the room's window slowly begins to show the sun rising. They go through the book, with Chilli questioning Bingo the name of planets and Bingo identifying the Sun. After then, it is finally sleepy-time for Bingo, but not after Chilli finding Floppy on the floor for her. Bingo tells her that she wants to do a "big girl sleep" tonight and wake up on her own bed. Chilli encourages her, and reminds her, "I'm always here when you need me." Then Bingo closes her eyes, off to sleep she goes.Anita Majhu, Senior Licensing Manager, BBC Studios, added: “We are delighted that Stor is joining our raft of world-class partners for Bluey. This partnership offers a fantastic opportunity to reach fans across the UK & Ireland and EMEA markets. Stor’s commitment to sustainability also complements BBC Studios’ work in this area and we welcome bringing Bluey products to market that are responsibly sourced.”

H&A, the UK’s #1 supplier of kids’ licensed toiletries, has signed an agreement with BBC Studios to produce health and beauty products including bubble baths, foams, bath bombs, shower gels, soaps and shampoos as well as bathtime accessories for both Bluey and Hey Duggee. Hey Duggee is a fun, inclusive and educational series devised by Grant Orchard, senior director of Studio AKA, and narrated by comedian Alexander Armstrong. BBC Studios and CBeebies recently announced it had commissioned a fourth series of the hit animation.

Watch Bluey On

It turns out that Bluey has woken up and made her way to the parents' room, holding a glass. Chilli then wakes up and sees her daughter, surprised, and is asked if she can get the latter a glass of water. After fulfilling her request, she instead finds Bluey sleeping on her side of the bed. She then tiredly makes her way to the children's bedroom and finds rest on Bluey's bed trying to cover herself with her tiny blanket. Just as Chilli gets herself comfortable, Bingo gets off her bed, "floating" in her dream.

Mandy Thwaites, Director, Magazines & Consumer Products, UK Division at BBC Studios, says: “We’ve been extremely busy behind the scenes with Bluey and Hey Duggee and it’s great to see the interest both properties are generating. Personally, it was a real highlight to attend London Toy Fair and we had so many lovely conversations about the brands. It’s clear that our top dogs have great appeal across preschool audiences and people really connect to their warmth, inclusivity and humour. Since launching in 2014, Hey Duggee has become a six-time BAFTA and international Emmy award-winning hit. Hey Duggee was the most-watched kids’ show on CBeebies in 2021 and was streamed more than 250m times on BBC iPlayer in 2021. All episodes of Hey Duggee are available exclusively on BBC iPlayer in the UK. I’m excited to welcome H&A to our fabulous roster of partners and can’t wait for fans to see a great range of Bluey and Hey Duggee bath products on shelves. MV Sports have been a wonderful partner for Hey Duggee wheeled toys and are adding to that range as well as launching Bluey products in the UK. I’m also pleased to share details of further Character Options arts and crafts product lines for Bluey in addition to the deal we announced in December. The range will feature sustainable and eco-friendly material such as stainless steel, aluminium and porcelain as well as adding natural fibres to traditional plastics to reduce the percentage of plastics by up to 30%. BBC Studios has agreed a licensing deal with Stor SL for a Bluey collection of more than 50 items for the UK & Ireland and EMEA markets, including meal sets, drinkware, lunch bags, tumblers, canteens, plates and bowls, sandwich boxes, placemats, cutleries, porcelain mugs, bottles and storage boxes. Stor also offers tailor-made options to retailers who request an exclusive line. Each episode features members of the Squirrel Club exploring, learning and overcoming challenges to earn a new Badge from Duggee – making new friends along the way. While in France, Bluey is available on France Télévision’s free-to-air channel France 5 and their catch-up kids’ platform OKOO. Toys from global master toy partner Moose are set to launch at retail in France in 2022. Then Bingo, at the sight of Floppy among its many others, sorrowfully lets out a cry at its loss. Such is a cry that alerts Chilli on the other side of the children's room. Stor SL is a global family-owned company founded in 1969 with a presence in over 80 countries, and factories in China and Spain. The series follows Bluey, a six-year-old Blue Heeler dog who loves to play and turn everyday family life into extraordinary adventures that unfold in unpredictable and hilarious ways, bringing her family, friends and community into her world of fun.

The episode was originally the longest one, but Pass the Parcel would later on become the longest one with a runtime of 8:00, and so is Tradies with the same runtime.MV Sports, the UK’s leading designer of licensed wheeled toys, have agreed a deal to produce a delightful range of Bluey branded bikes, trikes, scooters, ride-ons and accessories. MV Sports are an existing partner of BBC Studios and already hold the license for Hey Duggee wheeled toys and have recently unveiled additions to the product range. Jointly commissioned by BBC Studios & ABC Children’s, Bluey is produced by multi-Emmy® award-winning Ludo Studio in association with Screen Queensland and Screen Australia. The series is distributed internationally by BBC Studios outside of Australia. In its home market, Australia, Bluey was the #1 children’s programme on metro broadcast television in 2020 and is the #1 series ever on ABC iview with over 480 million views across series one and two*. Bluey also won ‘Pre-School License of the Year’ for the second year in a row at the Australian Toy Association (ATA) Awards. This episode has an unusually long runtime with 7:30 instead of 7:00, making this episode second to the longest one in the series. This is the first Bluey episode to share a name with a SpongeBob SquarePants episode, but the latter has a space between the 'y' and 'T', thus making it "Sleepy Time".
