About this deal

We took the east approach, but, unfortunately, roadworks in the village made the road unpassable. So, we parked at the Town Hall and walked the short distance through Rigny-Ussé to the Château. There is plenty of parking across the street from the Château. D’USSÉ should be stored upright in a cellar or a dark cool space before opening. Once opened you should try to consume it within six months before the flavors start to fade. FAQ – D’USSÉ What kind of alcohol is D’USSÉ? So if cognac is distilled wine does that mean you can just put any old wine through the distillation process and come out the other side with a delectable cognac-like D’USSÉ? Nope, there is a tried and true method for making cognac and it actually starts with wine made specifically for brandy and cognac production. Having already created the gardens at Versailles, André Le Nôtre worked his magic in the castle gardens here too. The garden features ponds and fountains designed with a clever use of symmetry and perspectives. It has citrus trees and two Lebanon cedar trees which were a gift from the Viscount of Chateaubriand who regularly stayed at Rigny-Ussé. D’USSÉ XO is much more rare and expensive than D’USSÉ VSOP. The extra time aging gives D’USSÉ XO a very complex flavor profile.

There is an area of formal gardens in the French style, and an extensive park with mature trees to explore. A full bodied, warming blend that refreshes and arouses the palate, in a symbolic decanter that is the perfect collector’s item. Distinctively smooth. D'USSÉ is the epitome of contemporary and tradition coming together in a cutting edge way. The uber-trendy D'USSÉ VSOP Cognac is the first of the D'USSÉ line, and Master Blender Michel Casavecchia weaves his magic by selecting only the finest eaux-de-vie aged for at least 4 and a half years in the dark cellars of the iconic Chateau de Cognac in France, which is also home to the historic Baron Otard producers. Guard Room with ceiling painted in imitation marble using an Italian technique called 'trompe l'oeil' (deceive the eye). Aging: D'Ussé XO ages for a significantly longer time, and matures 10 years in oak barrels, whereas the VSOP version only matures for precisely four and a half years. Then you can start enjoying it, right? No, then you have to let it sit in oak barrels for many years. After those years the people in the region who made it are probably really excited to drink it.

To the west of Azay-le-Rideau at Rigny-Ussé, the Chateau d'Usse is a lovely castle in the pretty surroundings of the Chinon forest and next to the Loire river, between Villandry and Chinon. Explore the Chateau d'Ussé That all sounds very exciting and fancy but what is cognac? Cognac is a type of brandy. So what is brandy? Brandy is a type of alcohol produced by distilling wine.
