Nov 24 Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space Releases an Update Featuring a New Episode 'The Cliffs of Wyrmrest (Wryz Saga I)' on November 24

Mateo, Alex (October 19, 2021). "North American Anime, Manga Releases, October 17-23". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on October 23, 2021 . Retrieved October 21, 2021. The Decagon House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji is an exemplar of a genre Ihadn't known existed: “new orthodox” mysteries, shin honkaku in Japanese— a return to the old rules of thegame:The first volume plot focused more on the mystery, the previous case and the perspective of the other two club members that did not go on the island with them. As this series will have three volumes in total, I feel like everything will start to unfold in the next volume as the end of this particular volume left me with so many questions and I keep searching if there are any updates. This is the third Japanese "Honkaku" mystery I've been able to read this year, all released newly in the US in translation by Pushkin Vertigo. (The other two are by Seishi Yokomizo.) This one is my favorite of the genre so far, hitting all the beats you want, while balancing surprises with the tropes. It feels distinctly different and more modern than the mid-century ones, but still with a dedication to the form that goes beyond homage. (This title is from the mid-80's.) in Japanese). Kodansha. Archived from the original on October 21, 2021 . Retrieved October 21, 2021. It was not the plot that was vital, but the framework. A framework where it was always possible to make the best choice, depending on the circumstances at the time. Not one of the characters was actually clever or possessed any real common sense, many scenes were wasted on each character asking ‘was it you? and saying ‘it wasn’t me’. They spend so much of their time defending themselves when it should have been obvious that their word (saying ‘it wasn't me’) was a waste of time/breath as they had no way of proving their innocence, and yet we have these unnecessary interactions taut could have easily been summarized in a few words (they took turns accusing one smother etc). Also, they are whodunnit experts, surely they would know that they are squandering valuable time on the kind of idiotic disagreements that solve nothing and if anything may result in them not paying attention to their surroundings etc.

a b "The Decagon House Murders, Volume 1". Kodansha USA. Archived from the original on October 21, 2021 . Retrieved October 21, 2021. Are you aware of the physical space around you? Asks the murderer. He will build a trap of one of these houses. He will know the extra layers and extra walls and extra rooms; just as he will know your secrets, casting a cold eye upon them. He will come through these places and spaces; he will murder you, he will murder you all. Note: this book was first published in Japan under the title of 'The Island of Lamentation' and it won the author an award when he was still a student. Decades later it has been published as 'The Decagon House Murders' in English. The dénouement was fiendishly clever... An engaging, entertaining mystery with a puzzle fit for the most ardent of armchair detectives This is definitely an interesting and strange mystery that will keep you hooked. The characters are remarkable, the story is intriguing, and I loved reading about how things pan out.He knew his plan was far from perfect. It was best described as shoddy rather than meticulous. But he’d never intended to plan everything out in perfect detail in the first place.

Overall, I had enjoyed this manga very much and I can't wait for it to be released! The premise of the story is very similar to the novel and I love the art style in this book. The lines are defined and the the mangaka had portrayed and kept the level of suspense at bay. He was not a god and so could never be forgiven for what he was about to do—he was completely conscious of that fact. The act would be called “a crime” by his fellow men and, if found out, he himself would be judged according to the law. One might add: 'apparently', to all of the above and much of the below -- predictably, not everything in the novel is as entirely clear-cut as it might (initially) seem.) The most desirable plan was not one that limited your own moves, but a flexible one that could adapt to circumstances: that was the conclusion he had come to.The earlier deaths loom as a huge shadow over present-day events, but for quite a while The Decagon House Murders proceeds with only hints of menace -- the notes like the one Kawaminami received, or then, on the island, plates arranged suggesting there would be five victims among those present (along with a 'Detective' -- and, ominously, a 'Murderer'). Mateo, Alex (July 29, 2021). "Kodansha Comics Licenses The Decagon House Murders, Yamaguchi-kun Isn't So Bad, Chihiro-Kun Only Has Eyes For Me, More Manga". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on July 29, 2021 . Retrieved July 29, 2021. This is the chilling opener of The Honjin Murders, a masterful detective novel by Japanese writer Seishi Yokomizo. First published in 1946, it was the first of his books to be translated to English, in 2019 (one more has followed, with two more on the way). It is also a perfect example of a honkaku mystery: a fascinating form of crime writing that first emerged in Japan in the 1920s and, thanks to a recent raft of translations and republications, is now enjoyed by English readers more than ever. in Japanese).
