a b c Wendy Kaminer (Spring 2008). "The Corrosion of the American Mind". The Wilson Quarterly. 32 (2): 92 (91–94). JSTOR 40262377. Then came Scientology, the 'science' of positive thinking, and, more recently, New Age healer Deepak Chopra's nonsensical references to quantum physics. Text at Wilson Quarterly But the links between the mind – and consciousness – and disease can’t be overlooked. Our mental, emotional and spiritual health is intertwined closely with our physical well-being. There’s a famous quote by psychologist Abraham Maslow that goes, ‘If the only tool you have is a hammer, you’ll see every problem as a nail.’ That’s the position we’re in with our current thinking around health.

Most literature on quantum healing is almost entirely theosophical, omitting the rigorous mathematics that makes quantum electrodynamics possible. See Doug Bramwell. " 'Magic' of Quantum Physics". I have always been enchanted by Eastern philosophy, and especially when I heard of the Vedic masters who could basically put themselves into comas, buried six feet under for three days, then rise on the third day. The stories told of the ultra-colorful and ultra-sensational world they had occupied for those three days echoed every near-death-experience I had ever read about. I believe this old book, while outdated in some of its "cutting edge" revelations, is still every bit as relevant today. In fact, other books I am currently enjoying--like The Spiritual Anatomy of Emotion by Michael A. Jawer and Marc S. Micozzi, M.D., Ph.D, and The Biology of Belief by Dr. Paul H. Lipton--seem to build on these early ideas as they share further research about DNA (not what they told me it was in grade school!) and epigenetics, neuropeptides, and the quantum level of health and human performance. You go to a doctor with a physical problem who assumes there is a physical cause and prescribes a physical solution. It’s a very linear and materialistic view of the world. Chopra has metaphorically described the AIDS virus as emitting "a sound that lures the DNA to its destruction". The condition can be treated, according to Chopra, with "Ayurveda's primordial sound". [18] Taking issue with this view, medical professor Lawrence Schneiderman has said that ethical issues are raised when alternative medicine is not based on empirical evidence and that, "to put it mildly, Dr. Chopra proposes a treatment and prevention program for AIDS that has no supporting empirical data". [ citation needed] He spent his first months as a doctor working in rural India, including, he writes, six months in a village where the lights went out whenever it rained. [30] It was during his early career that he was drawn to study endocrinology, particularly neuroendocrinology, to find a biological basis for the influence of thoughts and emotions. It seems appropriate that Chopra and legions of his ilk should now populate the halls of academic medicine, since they carry on the placebo-dominated traditions long ago established in those very halls by their progenitors In August 2005, Chopra wrote a series of articles on the creation–evolution controversy and Intelligent design, which were criticized by science writer Michael Shermer, founder of The Skeptics Society. [130] [131] [132] In 2010, Shermer said that Chopra is "the very definition of what we mean by pseudoscience". [21] Position on skepticism [ edit ]Matrix energetics was conceived of by Richard Bartlett as a means to heal those with seemingly chronic and unrepairable issues. It works with the subtle energy field that surrounds us in a more immediate way than the hypnotic model of quantum healing. This modality taps into the waveform patterns that exist all around us as pure consciousness. It taps into the information that is beyond our physical senses and manipulates it to create profound healing events. In essence, the application between an ME practitioner and you as the client rests on the communication between the quantum level of reality. Quantum-Touch This new science of Quantum Healing has been making quiet waves since the 1980s when the term was first coined by Deepak Chopra, an ayurvedic doctor who’s performed what the traditional medical establishment would describe as miracles, or for the more hard-nosed amongst them, mere anomalies. Woo ensues" . Retrieved December 20, 2016.
