The game would have followed multiple plots, with a different one in each Play Set, like its predecessors. Figures and playsets are also cross compatible with every console, though figures from the latest set will not work on previous sets, so Infinity 2.0 characters will not work on Infinity 1.0 and Infinity 3.0 figures will not work with Infinity 1.0 or 2.0. Figures are forward-compatible in the Toy Box mode. Use your Figures from Disney Infinity and Disney Infinity 2.0 in the Disney Infinity 3.0 Toy Box. However, new Figures from Disney Infinity 3.0 cannot be used in Disney Infinity and Disney Infinity 2.0.​

Create your own story and play through experiences as characters from the Avengers, Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy universes, as they come to life by placing their Figures on the Disney Infinity Base. You can even use your original Disney Infinity Figures and Power Discs in Toy Box Mode in Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes.Toy Box Story Mode would have allowed players to play through a set of missions in the Toy Box with any character they wanted. [1]. One level would have included an Agrabah area with new Agrabah Guard enemies and a Snake Jafar boss battle [2]. Power Discs are forward-compatible in Toy Box mode. For instance, Power Discs from Disney Infinity and Disney Infinity 2.0 can be used in the Disney Infinity 3.0 Toy Box. However, new Power Discs from Disney Infinity 3.0 cannot be used in Disney Infinity and Disney Infinity 2.0. Play Sets

These Figures are compatible with the Disney Infinity 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 Edition Toy Boxes, and the Play Sets indicated below. The best thing about this version is that the playsets actually have a feel of polish to them and a level design that gets you out their and exploring the worlds instead of just pushing threw big empty boring cities (looking at you 2.0) Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars Saga Bundle: Includes the main game plus The Rise Against the Empire, Twilight of the Republic, Rise Against the Empire adventure.In addition to this, each version of the game comes with what Disney call a ‘Toy Box’ which allows you to build your own worlds from basic building materials (think Minecraft but more basic) and use any characters from Infinity 1.0 to play around in. Each character had a unique world within the single playset piece that only characters from that franchise can use, so the rest of the Incredibles family can be used in the Incredibles game etc. If you know what your getting yourself into with the Figures to play setup of this game, much like Skylanders or the soon to be released Lego Dimensions, it is a wonderful game. This is not a "hardcore" gamers game although, they too could find some fun with it. This is a family game at it's core. It is easily accessible to the younger crowd and very forgiving in it's method of game play. Over all a great family game, with a moderately high cost to get started, and very high cost for those with collectors OCD, but the figures are beautiful and if you like Marvel, Disney, or Star Wars stand on their own as great little shelf pieces if nothing else. Bases are also cross compatible on most consoles, but not for Xbox 360 or Xbox One. The Wii, Wii U, PS3 and PS4 bases will all work on these machines. The Xbox 360 base will only work on that console and that goes for the Xbox One base.
