Made from animal-friendly treated timber, solid tongue and groove assembly, designed to last for years If the coop is treated, to begin with, and thereafter on a yearly basis, and is well looked after and cleaned regularly there is no reason why a lifespan of 5 to 7 years could not be expected. I live in an area with a mild winter and a decent amount of rain throughout the year, so perhaps this coop is not suitable for wet climates??

I bought this coop over summer in 2020, my girls moved in September 2020, and I wanted to wait to review until I gave it some use. This is my experience after 7 months of use. We can deliver to most lowland areas in Scotland. These include the following postcodes: DD1-7 , DG , EH , FK1-6 , G , KA1-26 , KA29-30 , KY , ML , PA1-19 , PH1-2, TD The refined looks of the Dorchester only complement its functionality, which has been the top-most priority when designing it. The ark-shaped run allows for the indoor area to be lifted off the ground, which ensures that air can circulate around the coop, prevents flooding, and keeps rats and mice away. I made a cover from clear roofing panels that sits the length of the coop. Too much water was getting in when it rained and even though I added varnish, the hen house still leaked.

If you live outside these areas then unfortunately, we are unable to offer delivery due to the high extra charges levied by the courier companies we use. You are welcome to arrange your own courier to collect from us, or we can deliver the items to a courier up north for onward journey to you. All parcels will be shipped together but could arrive separately, depending on how the courier organises their daily deliveries The internal space, which includes a nesting area with two compartments and two roosting perches, make it suitable for 2 medium-sized birds or up to 3-4 small-sized birds like bantams. Please note that different species have different living requirements and these numbers are only rough approximations that are based on our own experience and that of customers who are using the coop. The handle to open and close the pop hole door has had to be repaired, as one of the screws attached to the door came loose and fell out.Most door openers on the market work with doors that open in an up/down direction (pop-hole doors). Our Devon Hen House has a pop-hole door and has been specifically designed so it can be fitted with any one of these automatic door openers. We unfortuntely don't have an automatic door opener that can work on the sliding door of the Dorset. The raised roosting and nesting area of the Dorset Coop will hold 5 to 6 medium-sized birds quite comfortably. Wood & General Maintenance
