About this deal

I think eventually, people will realise that veganism is the only compassionate option," Lucy adds passionately. "Eventually they'll change laws around the situation, and it will become a lot harder to access non-vegan products. I hope to see it in this lifetime, and if not, I'd hope to leave behind some sort of influence."

And now she’s hoping to make it even easier to go vegan, with her new cookbook, Feed Me Vegan, designed especially to help beginners make the transition. How complex was the recipe? Easy peasy! Basically smoosh some bananas, throw in the rest of the ingredients, whisk and then cook for three mins on each side resulting in perfectly fluffy pancakes with delicious crispy bits around the outside. Many of the recipes I tried use cashews, but I never felt they were successful at recreating the flavours and textures. Thankfully, this one is spot-on and the mushrooms add an extra texture and flavour that take it to the next level." With a brand-new book and a blossoming business behind her, Lucy Watson is making the case for veganism in an era where the stigma around meat- and dairy-less diets is giving way to new ideas and – best of all – tasty new dishes! This is the only vitamin you’ll be missing from your diet, which is good for your blood cells. You can get tablets, but I love using a spray – it’s actually really yummy.Former Made in Chelsea star and passionate vegan Lucy Watson has added a new selection of vegan desserts to her vegan ready-meal range. Lucy has collaborated with a number of brands, including Nasty Gal, Wilkinson Sword and PUMA. Additionally, she serves as the vegan ambassador for Bulk Powders, alongside celebrity athletes such as Anthony Joshua and Katarina Johnson Thompson. Lucy has also been a global ambassador for PETA and the only U.K. ambassador for PUMA.

The past decade has seen some of the biggest shifts in opinions regarding plant-based diets. Vegetarianism and veganism are no longer alien concepts to the general public – and for long-time advocates like Lucy Watson, the current climate is a brave new world for meat- and diary-free foodies. First impressions? The dish looks nice but doesn’t scream ‘make me’! It certainly sounds interesting though with the use of wild mushrooms. The new dessert offering is comprised of a fruity Mango Cheesecake and a silky Chocolate Pie, both of which are vegan, gluten-free and nut-free. I get the impression that this is targeted towards new plant-based eaters but it will easily appeal to longer-standing vegans too, there really is something for everyone in this book. What do I like the most? I never tell doctors I’m vegan because I’m genuinely interested in what they’re going to say – if they think I’m missing anything from my diet,” she says. She has also noticed she has more energy, is less susceptible to illness and even has stronger nails. How complex was the recipe? Pretty easy. There were a few steps but nothing complicated – sauté onion, garlic and chilli with the spices, add beans and tomatoes and simmer for 15 mins.

In 2014 Lucy launched her own luxury jewellery brand named Creature Jewellery. The company has continued to grow and has now launched its fourth collection. The Feed Me Vegan meals, which include shepherds pie, spicy chili, and curry, were put on shelves in 155 Waitrose & Partners stores across the country last October. Pour the milk into a bowl and add the sugar, flour, nutritional yeast, cinnamon and salt. Whisk well. I haven’t seen that Bake Off vegan week just yet, but I thought it’s amazing!” she enthuses. “It just shows how mainstream it’s really becoming and that there is a demand for it. I know that Jamie Oliver always talks about vegan, plant-based food – he’s a massive supporter of it. I think that it’ll happen naturally, if I’m honest. People will see there is a demand for it and they should get on the bandwagon. Bigger names have that profile and they should be able to show people better than anyone how amazing and different vegan food can be.”How complex was the recipe? It wasn’t complex but it was slightly more involved that the others. There were a few steps including pre-cooking the macaroni, frying off two types of mushrooms with some herbs and making a béchamel sauce. First impressions? The recipe looks like a fairly standard bean chilli, not overly complicated so it might be good for a weeknight meal. So I HAD to find a good recipe for mac and cheese - one that would actually taste similar to the original," adds the former Made In Chelsea star, explaining how this recipe ended up in her new book, Feed Me Vegan.

Once I’d added the reserved mushroom ‘sauce’ to the béchamel I knew this recipe was on to a winner. The taste did not disappoint, it was abso-blinkin-lutely fantastic. Like SERIOUSLY good. To be perfectly honest the book is worth buying just for this one recipe. But living a vegan lifestyle means it’s not just about the food – Lucy never wears leather and only uses beauty products that aren’t tested on animals and don’t contain animal by-products.
