The collection is so creative, eye-catching and best of all, utterly divine. Easter is here, and you know what that means, it's time to choose a chocolate egg from the colourful and alluring shop displays. Of course, everyone has their own personal preferences, but with so many on offer it can be difficult to work out which taste best or represent the best value for money.

Maltesers provide a good offering, but the egg was a bit underwhelming (Image: Corey Bedford/LeicestershireLive) I've broken this blog post into two sections for ease: Gluten Free Easter Eggsand Gluten and Dairy Free Easter Eggs. If you're not avoiding dairy, many 'normal' Easter eggs are free from gluten-containing ingredients anyway. It's that time of year again when it's absolutely acceptable to eat chocolate for breakfast. Followed by a hot cross bun. The long bank holiday weekend is upon us, and with that, a few extra days off work to spend time with friends and family. It had scrumptious crunchy bits and was ever so moreish. The German retailer also sells dark chocolate and caramel, and white chocolate and raspberry ripple flavoured eggs too.

Gone have the days where the option was simply white, milk or dark chocolate. Now you can buy everything from salted caramel, honeycomb and popping candy, to marble, pink and dairy free eggs. The flavour for the egg was good, very similar to the chocolate you would find on KitKat bars, it has a sweetness to it but still a rich cocoa flavour. It was the second-best tasting chocolate egg, behind Cadbury, and was a nice surprise. NestlΓ© eggs used to be a bit underwhelming but it looks like they've improved the taste a bit.

I'd still give it a solid 7/10, just for presentation of the interior, the better value for money, and the chocolate on offer was still nice enough and enjoyable. Galaxy Enchanted Eggs Galaxy chocolate with crunchy caramel rolled in rose gold A hollow milk chocolate egg with Galaxy enchanted eggs Suitable for vegetarians The Kitkat bunnies are quite nice, too. The chocolate is nice, like the egg, with small pieces of wafer inside them. Would I rather have actual Kitkats in the Easter Egg? Of course. But it's a nice addition that makes it feel more like an Easter egg. Ahead of Easter Sunday (April 9, 2023) I've got a long list of gluten free, coeliac-safe Easter eggs in UK supermarkets right now. Up first is the Cadbury Creme Egg, an Easter staple and I thought was the best way to start the review. The box comes with a large Cadbury chocolate egg and two individual creme eggs. Overall, the weight comes to 233g - a 153g chocolate egg and two 40g creme eggs. Also, Easter eggs sometimes feature other bits and bobs such as biscuit or wafer pieces which will contain gluten. Dairy Fine Mini Eggs Chunky Bar - 225g (a great alternative to the Cadbury's Mini Eggs Bar which is now a 'may contain' for gluten) Getting into the taste, the chocolate tasted good, it had a bit more of a snap to it than the Cadbury chocolate egg, but had a good sweetness to it. It did feel like it was missing something compared with the Cadbury egg, though. The Colin the Caterpillar Easter egg is perfect for kids. Wrapped in florescent green foil, the large egg was super creamy and smooth. Plus it came with a large bag of white chocolate mini Colin faces.

Have you found any other gluten free Easter eggs or noticed any changes to this list since it was published? Marks and Spencer has a brilliant range of Easter treats for adults and children (Image: Laura Nightingale) 4. Lidl You may find one size Easter egg from a brand is gluten free, while a different size has a 'may contain' warning. I headed down to Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Marks and Spencer and Asda to see what they had to offer and whether they could compete with the famous chocolate brands this Easter. It's fair to say I was surprised. Some of the confectionery from the budget supermarkets in particular were especially delicious. 10. Last place: Kit Kat Chunky So it's around a similar value to the Cadbury egg, if not on sale, and offers another nice option if you don't want a Cadbury Easter Egg.Cadbury and Galaxy chocolate Easter eggs compared to supermarket offerings from Asda, Aldi, Lidl and M&S (Image: Laura Nightingale) 9. Sainsbury's Looking at the higher-end range of Easter eggs on offer, as they will naturally contain the most chocolate and therefore the most calories, research found the following 10 to be the most calorific Easter Eggs on supermarket shelves: You can never assume anything is safe but this Easter egg guide should help you navigate the best choices for gluten free. How to use my gluten free Easter eggs guide If the cost of the egg isn’t something you’re concerned about – and you’re not allergic to nuts – then obviously there’s nothing that could top the Ferrero Rocher egg in terms of decadence. It’s tasty down to the last crumb and the only reason it isn't my top option is that I think the richness of the egg would be too much by the time I'd inevitably wolfed down the whole thing in one giant munch!
