Such individuals should be encouraged to consult a physician concerning the treatment of an infection.

Galpharm Cold Sore Cream - 2g should be applied to the affected area up to 5 times a day, leaving 4 hours between each application. Wash hands after use and use for up to 5 days. Children

Aciclovir is predominantly eliminated via the kidneys, primarily by glomerular filtration and to a lesser extent by tubular secretion.

Advise cold sore sufferers to avoid transmitting the virus, particularly when active lesions are present.

Adults

Zovirax (which you can also buy in a new 2g pump dispenser) is the best-known cold sore treatment to contain aciclovir, the antiviral medication that shrinks cold sores. Our local pharmacist recommended Zovirax as the best all-rounder for treating cold sores and chapped lips, and our own experience last winter confirmed her recommendation.
