About this deal

Good control and well-behaved, more reactive to multiple bass lines now, allowing for keeping them separated yet also in line, meaning the Deva Pro can handle pitch differences and not lose composure – a sure sign of the driver being able to keep up during more complex parts due to its better speed, resolve and driver control. Articulation is fine and the timbre is mostly natural but upper mids may sound with lesser intensity although nothing too noticeable while listening to music.

The Bluemini Bluetooth module offers a vast array of codecs on top of its Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity: in fact it offers SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD and LDAC– more than enough to satisfy even the most demanding audiophiles. It’s not the exact same as having a wired connection, but I would argue that it’s the closest you can get to that. For wireless and digital connectivity, simply plug in the supplied Bluemini module. This not only gives you Bluetooth connectivity, but also features a built-in DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) and USB input – perfect for connecting your computer. My first impressions of the Deva Pro were that they reminded me a lot of the HE400se (a headphone that I am very fond of and is my highest recommendation at its price point). After some more detailed listening, the sound is not identical to the HE400se but it is very similar, at least in my opinion, with some slight changes that could actually be dependent on the pad difference between the two units. I haven’t yet tried swapping pads between them (I believe they fit but I'm not sure) but it would be an interesting experiment. Unfortunately, the upper-midrange is quite intense. There is no noticeable frequency dip between 2-5kHz, resulting in a very up-front midrange. Such tuning also hampers soundstage depth and microdynamics.

Conclusion

Looking at how popular they were, and they were both regarded as the absolute best Bluetooth headphones on the market, it was a matter of time till they’ll launch yet another one. They just did, and boy oh boy, this is big.

There is a Type-C port at the bottom that can either charge the module or allows connecting to a computer to act as a DAC-amp. The solitary button can be used to power on or off via long-press, whereas a short-press disconnects the Deva Pro from the current device. A double press takes it into pairing mode. The Bluemini R2R module connects via a 3.mm TRRS connector. The extension of the treble is good, with enough air for my personal taste, although I do again feel that the HE400se is slightly better in this regard. I am not complaining about the extension or sense of air, it is far better than many competitors, but in comparison to other Hifiman products, it does fall slightly behind. The original Deva was one of the most open sounding headphones in the market but the Pro takes it even higher further improving the performance. Bass starts rising from 30Hz and becomes noticeable around 40Hz. Bass response is pretty much flat. In BT mode there is more emphasis near the sub-bass it seems, though the bass sounds rolled-off after 35Hz in all three modes (Bluetooth, USB, and wired). I’m not gonna lie – I really like the appearance and the color scheme of the original Deva, but I know many people that found it…controversial. Even though it looked way better in person than in the photos, it still gained some attention because of that, and that’s not really desirable by the brand. In theory the Bluemini should be able to output 1,125 mW of power, but in reality it’s limited to 230 mW. That’s still quite a lot of power for a device this small! It’s more than enough to drive the Deva to deafening levels, so I usually kept it to about 15% volume and it was plenty enough. And even both wired & wireless w/ literally ANY other headphones using a 1x female 3.5mm TRRS to 2x male 3.5mm TRS [or other needed input] cable/adapter.) The size is perfect even for my big head and big ears, making it the most comfortable headphone I have ever had

If these had dynamic drivers lol then I promise I wouldn’t care at ALL, whatsoever & sure as hell wouldn’t have wrote a comment about it.) HIFIMAN’s NEO “supernano” Diaphragm (NsD): The new NsD is 80% thinner than previous designs, resulting in fast response and detailed image with lush, full range sonics. The Deva Pro is now equipped with a dual entry system allowing you to use cables with left and right 3.5mm TRS stereo connectors in the same manner as their high-end headphones. Those with the likes of the Ananda or the Arya Stealth will now be able to roll those cables with the Deva Pro. Unfortunately I don’t have the first-generation Deva any more, but from what I remember (and from my description in the review) it was much brighter than the Pro version. I won’t make any further comment as memory is fallible and not reliable enough (echoic memory lasting only a few seconds etc). Final Thoughts They could have included a balanced cable (instead of the long USB one), or at least sell one as an option, and not make us try to find such a specialty cable by ourselves

Although the silver colour would induce one in thinking that the headphones are made of metal, the only parts actually made of metal are the gimbals and the grille covers: the earcups and the silver bit on the headband are made of plastic. Susvara is the king, with absolutely incredible technical performance, coupled with a transparent, musical delivery, that’s both revealing and easy to listen to. In terms of the build and design, the Susvara stands head and shoulders above the rest of HIFIMAN’s lineup with a sleek design featuring aluminum, leather, and wood veneer. They’re also quite comfortable with more moderately sized earcups than the HE1000 series. There is a strange volume limit and you can't get the full available range as you can do when it is connected to a PC or in Bluetooth mode.
