About this deal

It’s clean, clear, and really pushes some air. It’s been noted to have a balanced bass frequency response to the 50Hz range. Something not generally possible with studio monitors so compact. I myself, for example, used K&M 23250 offered by Thomann as they are perfect match for these monitors from design wise and have just enough height to lift these from desk level to my ear level. (Small hint to Thoman, maybe you should offer these together as bundle?) The speaker contains four small Class-D amplifiers: two 16-watt amps that drive two 3-inch neodymium woofers, and two 4-watt amps that drive a pair of 0.75-inch tweeters, along with custom digital signal processing (DSP). The full system is rated at 50Hz to 20kHz, but with no plus or minus dB figures, it's tough to get a sense of just what that means. Looks like IK multimedia as thought about different use cases a lot, becuase having an possibility to mount these on an Microphone stand is a real nice feature. It makes adjusting their hight real easy, just buy and regular microphone stands and mount them on these. The Alesis Elevate 5 MKII proves this point, but that doesn’t have to be a dealbreaker; the Japanese firm has included a dedicated bass boost switch for those moments when you are listening for pleasure, rather than for reference.

The E5 BTs are Presonus’ largest entry into their mixed-use media monitor range. The Eris range has long been a quality choice for speakers that can span the divide between home listening, recording and production.

GoAux 4 includes automatic room correction (ARC). To get started, plug the included mic into the front of the left speaker, clipping it to you while you sit in your monitoring sweet spot and it then runs through a set of audio tests.

The SC2070 build quality is excellent, and these monitors are also quite hefty for their size (9.4kg each). Sonically, they sound very open, and this has as much to do with the mid-range precision as it does with the higher frequencies. I should note a serious deficiency here: there is just no dynamic range here. Turn up the volume a hair beyond average and the clipping indicator blinks red. Go up a bit more and you are greeted with awful distortion from the little woofers. And that gap is very small. While I can get just about enough volume out of any active speaker, here I could not. I had to run the volume down to avoid clipping. A pair of them may still be satisfying but I only bought one speaker so can't test that hypothesis. The Solo6 excels in three areas. It’s incredibly honest, producing an unadulterated output that you can trust. That sound is also highly detailed, thanks mostly to the incredibly responsive, precise tweeter. Finally, there’s negligible distortion, which means we still felt fresh as a daisy even after working with them for hours; fatigue-free listening at its best. Just as importantly, iLoud MTM monitors make setting up a multichannel rig easy. At 30 to 50% smaller and lighter than comparable studio monitors, users will find setup a breeze in any size room. In addition, the iLoud MTM’s threaded bottom allows them to be mounted on a standard microphone stand or boom stand to best suit the listening environment or when space doesn’t permit ceiling mounting. Lastly the speaker placement, I had no issues at all, i could put these easely next to my monior, I use a 1.5m/4.92 ft. length - 80cm/2.62ft. width table.

When you push the volume knob to the absolute extreme limits, it seems to hold push the mids forward whilst keeping the bass at a more refined level, not to become a muddy mess. For us, these are perfect for the beginner producer. They are simple to set up, look great, and, most importantly, sound phenomenal.

If you’re new to home recording or music production, you may be wondering how the best budget studio monitors in this guide differ from the killer high-end Bluetooth speaker you use to stream Spotify or Apple Music – we're talking about the likes of Sonos and Bose here. It is overkill for passing sound to another speaker, but I appreciate the intent. Maybe it’s meant to contrast against the small size and legitimize the big sound.BUT once I connected these to my usb dac, the hiss lowered. I'm not sure if the better the dac the lower the hiss? But eitherway for this price honestly no dealbreaker at all. While IK Multimedia's claims of 'studio quality' may be a little optimistic, the iLoud's sound quality is still pretty impressive, with punchy but not overblown lows and plenty of detail in the mids and highs. It certainly compares well with other, often more costly, compact Bluetooth speaker systems, and that iRig input is an important addition for musicians. It also has plenty of volume in hand, though the stereo image is understandably somewhat narrow due to the close proximity of the left and right speakers. This is far less hit-and-miss than using the presets as it really does tailor the speakers to the room they are in. It’sall done via a series of audio chirps played through each speaker via a set process of placing the mic in four positions around where your head would be. The matte finish is nice to the touch and also adds to the feel of a quality product with some real thought put into the design and aesthetic. The wider the quoted frequency response the better, as the speakers will deliver all the highs and lows you will expect from your music. While this can be tested electronically, another option is to test studio monitors with reference music – our own trusted mixes of music that we know very well – where we can tell if any areas of the frequency spectrum have been enhanced or reduced. Hearing every detail in a well known mix is the target for a great set of studio monitors.
