About this deal

One of the two Argonauts killed by the skeletons is Castor, who in Greek mythology would perish much later as the result of a feud with Idas and Lynceus. The other is Phalerus, who in mythology would also survive the adventures of the Argonauts. Freeze the frames when Talos is running (or clunking, he's made of metal after all and doesn't have the flexibility of flesh) around. Take a really good look at the coloring, the sculpting, the attention to detail that when into this character. Jason's fleece isn't too shabby, either. Additionally, the story is well thought-out with plenty of from the center speaker. Dialogue is nicely balanced and effortless throughout. Most of the picture's MY recollection of OHMSS on VHS was that the widescreen versions were released in batches and while OHMSS was not part of the first batch I don't recall it coming out any later than the remaining ones.

garbs, the sandy terrains, and blue seas -- are all reflective of a good, quality presentation. Flesh The film score was composed by Bernard Herrmann, who had partnered with Harryhausen on The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958), The 3 Worlds of Gulliver (1960) and Mysterious Island (1961).As an added bonus, Sony has also included the film's original mono mix for purists not wishing to experience the 5.1 presentation. Like the transfer, this is a near-reference restoration and easily the finest presentation Argonauts has ever seen on home video.

Es gibt noch sehr viele Beispiele dieser Art aber ich will hier nicht großartig rumspoilern und deshalb belasse ich es bei diesem Beispiel. Ray Harryhausen regarded the film as his best. [20] [21] Previous Harryhausen films had been generally shown as part of double features in "B" theatres. Columbia was able to book it as a single feature in many "A" theatres in the United States. The plot of the film follows the myth pretty closely (considering it is a movie) and it stays true to the moral ambiguity of the legend. That's a positive, because we are seeing Greek myth, not "Greek-Myth-with-American-Values". We see things as the myth tells us. It leaves open questions because that is what the myths do. The picture looks pretty good on this DVD, and is available in both widescreen (1.85:1) and full screen pan and scan formats. The audio, Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono, is relatively clear throughout. Special features include subtitles (English, French, and Spanish), the original theatrical trailer, short production notes inside the case, and a lengthy interview with Ray Harryhausen conducted by John Landis, featuring clips, still photos, and even a prop or two from the films.picture telling a story of high adventure with an epic score, great vision, fine direction, good acting,

When I was 10 years old I saw this movie in the theater. I had seen the trailers the week before and eagerly awaited the movie in Saturday matinee. I was blown away when I did. but it's a very high quality presentation when judged on its own merits and not compared to anything Finally nearing Colchis, Acastus challenges Jason's authority and fights him. Disarmed, Acastus jumps into the sea and disappears. Jason and his men land and accept an invitation from King Aeëtes to a feast. Unknown to them, Acastus has warned Aeëtes of Jason's quest for the Golden Fleece. Aeëtes has the unwary Argonauts imprisoned, but Medea, having fallen in love with Jason, helps him and his men escape.

He sets out to build a ship and recruit a crew. Men from all over Greece compete for the honor of joining his quest. Because their ship is named the Argo after its builder, Argus, the crew are dubbed the Argonauts. Among them are Hercules, Hylas, and Acastus, who was secretly sent by his father Pelias to sabotage the voyage.
