Without further ado, let’s dive into the brand’s two most popular offerings and see how they compare. Comparing the LectroFan Classic and Evo The Lectrofan, now called the Lectrofan Classic, (left in the photo) has been my go-to white noise machine for quite a while. It sits next to my bed and I use it most nights. Both white noise machines can be set pretty loud. The EVO, depending on the pitch, achieves a maximum volume of 67 to 79 dBA. The Classic can be set even louder, achieving 69 dBA to 85 dBA. As I mentioned at the beginning, there are 10 fan sounds and 12 noise sounds to choose from. Selecting sounds works like this: The sound quality is excellent, with a speaker that produces louder maximum volume than the others in this list. I measured it at 77 decibels on a white noise setting from a meter away. So, the two models don’t differ too much in terms of size. The EVO is only an inch taller. Still, both machines can fit neatly onto desks and shelves, and neither one takes up a lot of space.

LectroFan Evo review: Verdict

White noise: A broad category of sounds, including high-frequency, mid-range, and low-frequency sounds. Similar to the sound of rushing water, a waterfall, or even the sound of your fan whirring at night. The portability is based mainly on the size and weight, but I also considered whether it can be played without plugging it in.

In comparison, the EVO has a maximum volume of 87 decibels and a minimum of 44 decibels. This makes it a great option for parents of babies who need a quieter environment. It can produce up to 91 decibels when measured from one foot away, which is more than sufficient to mask most everyday sounds. At its lowest volume setting, the Classic produces 48 decibels of noise. The Classic is slightly louder and has a wider range of frequencies, while the EVO offers you additional ocean sounds that you can enjoy as you sleep. And in terms of operation and add-on features, the two are identical.
