About this deal

A psychological thriller with a suggestion of the supernatural . . . Golding provides enough reasonable doubt about Lauren’s view of events to keep readers guessing.” Destiny Williams: Destiny is also Dannys daughter but not Suzys. Danny and her mother went out before she was born but when Destiny was born, Danny wasnt around anymore. She sets out to find her father and becomes a good friend of Sunsets. I told you, that wasn't them," said Lauren, "whatever was in that stroller. They've been swapped. They're evil those things, they're not my babies."

To quote the publisher of Crooked Lane Books “I bet you’ll delight in this sinister supernatural thriller that challenges our understanding of modern motherhood and the myths that shape our lives. Folktales do not spring from whimsy, they serve as a warning.” This story is framed with dark history and and even darker folklore that adds an eerie depth to the book. This is a foreboding and unnerving spine-chiller that leaves the reader questioning if it's possible for fable to turn into reality. Dumpleton, Elise (2019-03-31). "April Book Releases". The Nerd Daily. Archived from the original on 2023-07-04 . Retrieved 2023-07-04. I think there were some characters and scenes that weren’t necessary though but all in all I thought this was a very good, entertaining and enjoyable read. She never leaves the house, doesn't socialize and lives in constant fear that the would-be kidnapper will return. In fact, one evening, she sees the woman outside the house, staring in at her.

Deep. Dark. Utterly addictive. I read this extraordinary book in one breathless gulp…Be warned—you can’t unread this story. It will haunt you.” Overall, Little Darlings is an intense and atmospheric thriller and does a great job in combining folklore with reality, which was unique. Fans of psychological thrillers will love this one. a b "a book review by C. C. Harrison: Little Darlings: A Novel". www.nyjournalofbooks.com. Archived from the original on 2023-07-04 . Laura Tranter just had newborn twins. She named them Morgan and Riley. She is exhausted and needs a lot of rest. The night in the hospital room a woman tried to take her babies. and replace them with her own...creatures. Eek! When she tells everyone what happened, no one believes her. They think that she is just imagining things and needs lot of rest. Harper was a police officer on the case. Compulsively creepy and inspired by some of our darkest fairy tales. Each chapter starts with a passage from dark folklore. Is Lauren imagining all of this or is the supernatural real? The idea of changelings is closely examined in this work and I loved how many chapters began with little excerpts from various fairy tales focused on that topic. I admire the atmosphere. The story includes dark fairytale and folklore elements. Those are incredibly creepy in it. I didn't feel fear, but I had goosebumps. It sends shivers down my spine. Where Little Darlings breaks away from the same old/same old is in the gorgeously stylized horror factor. At one point in the story, Lauren believes the babies have been switched and are not hers. I promise-- you will never look at anyone’s baby the same again after reading the passages about these changelings! Golding’s vivid descriptions of the babies singing eerie songs at night or talking to each other is SOOOOO SCARY!!! Movie? Yes, please. (Insert creepy CG faces onto little baby bundles here). Sunset's character was fairly developed; it's clear how her mum's constant nagging affected her confidence and I enjoyed reading the passages where she retreated into 'Wardrobe City' and found comfort in her imagination, and later channelled this creativity into songwriting. Her parents intense arguments force her to step up and help take care of her two younger siblings, and she develops a sweet bond with the nanny Claudia which was a nice addition and good way of including an adult voice to condemn her parents' behaviour within the story.Lauren is truly terrified for the majority of this book and that really got under my skin. The writing used to illicit that feeling was so strong.

Little Darlings has caused quite a buzz in the literary world. I read where the UK publisher snatched up the manuscript within 48 hours of submission! A six-figure sum for the book and now news of the movie rights being sold—wowzah, great news for a debut author. Rich and satisfying, this is part who-done-it, part fairy tale, part psychological thriller…Will continue to rattle you, long after you have put it down.” Oh my goodness! This book rolled out as a truly creepy read that had me keeping several lights in the house shining bright as I huddled in the corner of my sofa, shaking while I read on.

DS Joanna Harper visits Lauren to find out what happened and to take a look at the CCTV which doesn’t show a woman on the ward but does show some kind of strange flashes on the floor. Lauren is petrified that someone wants her babies and it would seem that DS Harper might be the only person to believe her, but what is actually going on. Is there really a stranger after Lauren’s children, is there something paranormal occurring or is everything really in Lauren’s mind? Barkie' – Danny's goofy fan club manager, who used to have a crush on Danny. Her actual name is Jane Smith. "Barkie" is very sweet, and she is described by Sunset as "very nice, and always smiling". She has optimistic and goofy character, however, she is also sensitive to all of the sadness spreading around the house. LITTLE DARLINGS by Melanie Golding doesn’t come out until April 30, 2019, but you need to put this on your list of books to read now. I’m serious! Making matters worse, one night an intruder breaks into her room, a very scary, ragged-looking woman, tries to take her babies, to exchange them with her own evil little monsters.
