About this deal

quoting the old cliche, When life gives you lemons, make lemonade…forget the lemons. Life has already given you a you that’s like no other. And that’s what you’re better off making stuff out of. Across his many adventures big and small, Scott has gathered the wisdom of countless amazing experiences into this, the first memoir from a real-life Avenger. Once you learn the unforgettable details of his epic journey, you won't need to be reminded . . . to look out for the little guy. If you can't wait a few more weeks to get your hands on Scott's opus, read an excerpt now: INTRODUCTION from Look Out for the Little Guy by Scott Lang The book provides a series of retellings via Scott Lang’s view of what happened, as well as asking other Avengers for their input to help ‘fill in the gaps’ from Scott’s missing time. This is all done brilliantly and genuinely feels like you are reading about it first hand as if you are a citizen in the MCU. We get a first person perspective on the final battle with Thanos, but sadly, he didn’t reveal how he shrunk down, went up Thanos’ butt and became Giant-Man to end (see what I did there) him.

In close association with Marvel Studios and the filmmakers, Hyperion Avenue is bringing the book seen in the movie to real life, with Scott Lang's bracingly honest account of his struggles and triumphs, including the official account of what really happened between The Avengers and Thanos. Along the way, you’ll hear about my story—Scott Lang’s story—from where I started to the (ant-) man I’ve become, and am still becoming. Because I’m so incredibly fascinating? No. Because my life—just like yours—loses half its value if we don’t find a way to share its lessons with others. Now, if you're familiar with the films, you'll likely start to hear Paul Rudd's voice when you're reading this. That actually works well as the tone and the cadence of the text is very much in line with how the Ant-Man character was written for him. If you know that take on the character then you can see how he would have penned a book like this. At least that’s what I tried to do when I promised the Avengers I would tell their story. And the best way I know how to do that is by telling mine at the same time. Because as I’ve learned, whenever I start to talk about something big that happened, I also see the little lessons that can be learned from it, and I want to share that, to help myself and others. But here’s what I do know. That VistaCorp/prison experience taught me that our world is broken. And that it’s never going to get fixed unless folks like me—the unlikely ones—step up to the job. Though Ant-Man, The Wasp, and the rest of their family were last seen in Quantumania, with more Avengers movies on the horizon, it's only going to be a matter of time before we see them again. The next Marvel project to hit screens will be Loki Season 2, which premieres on Disney+ on October 6.

That’s why it’s always the job of people like me—and, as I’m going to show you throughout this book, you—to look out for the little guy. That’s something we all have a super-powered ability to do, if we simply choose to accept the job. The next several chapters explain his missed time with his daughter. How he dealt with prison, house arrest and a ex wife.So what they wanted me for was . . . a bit messy. Basically, the Avengers had a huge internal divide over something too complicated to get into here, and Cap and Falcon wanted some fresh (and highly size-adaptable) muscle on their side. Especially when all of this culminated in a huge Avengers-vs.-Avengers fracas at an airport in Germany. Germany! I’d just spent three years in a tiny cell. Now I was suddenly “doing Europe”? Look Out For The Little Guynot only covers the details of Avengers: Endgame but also Scott Lang’s life from his imprisonment right through until just before Quantumania. Expertly expanding on some of the gaps between movies so that we get to see more of what Scott’s character is like and what it is truly like to be Ant-Man from his everyman point of view.

I mean, just between us, I’m proud to be an Avenger, but sometimes I also feel like a “latecomer.” Sure, I came through in the ultimate clutch, but in baseball terms, I’m not a starter—I’m a DH (designated hero). In Look Out for the Little Guy, Scott Lang shares with the world a bracingly honest account of his struggles and triumphs, from serving time to being a divorced dad to becoming Ant-Man and joining The Avengers. These are stories of epic battles won and lost, as this everyman turned Super Hero finally tells all—from the official account of what really happened between The Avengers and Thanos to how shrinking down to ant-size really feels to the challenges of balancing the roles of hero and dad. I don’t want to get into the details of the conflict (and in fact I am under legal obligation not to), but let’s just At first, as I usually do when confronted with heavy topics, I made a joke: “I’m pretty sure at least half the world knows what happened.”

Success!

IGN’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania review gave it 7/10 and said: “The exploration of its central themes, new characters, and the Quantum Realm itself only goes skin deep, leaving it feeling high on spectacle but low on substance. Even so, Quantumania works as a culmination of the Ant-Man series, a way to start things in motion for Phase 5, and a promising roadmap of where the Multiverse Saga is going.” If there’s one thing you should know about me, it is that I am one of the biggest Ant-Man fans around! *I absolutely adore all of his films and appearances and Scott Lang’s everyman approach to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been a big appeal to his character for me. ( along with being played by the loveable Paul Rudd ). Naturally, I was very excited to see a new book called Look Out for the Little Guy, all about Scott Lang, would be released this year.
