About this deal

Additionally, a “Go To” button lets you jump to an exact point in the recorded content – very useful if you’re looking for something specific. The file system has been updated to make it resilient to corruption caused by unexpected interruptions (e.g. power loss) during asynchronous data transfer. You’ll always be entertained with 70 TV channels, 15 HD channels and 25+ radio stations from Freeview. Simply connect to your rooftop aerial (indoor aerials are unreliable and not recommended) You can record two programs but you cannot watch a live third at the same time. For the money it is a very good straight forward no nonsense PVR. Very responsive remote no delay button pushes. Nice user interface. Two year warrantee. I remember getting my first PVR fifteen years ago – a Pace Twin with a 20GB hard drive, rendered useless a few years later by technical changes to the terrestrial broadcast platform. Around the same time the Pace Twin was in retailers, a company called Eurosat was supplying digital satellite receivers under the Manhattan brand to enthusiasts via a network of specialist dealers.

When RF Loop Through in Standby was enabled in the System section of Settings, disturbances in the output could be observed for a few minutes after entering standby. Your T2•R will update automatically overnight whilst in standby, as long as you haven't disabled automatic updates in the System Settings menu However, if you love flipping live channels, but still want to record programmes and watch them on your own time – then a box like the Manhattan T2-R can be perfect for you, with no-fuss smart recording capabilities and a big hard drive. The neatness, clarity and responsiveness of the T2-R's everyday user interface is worth praising. It's driven by a decent handset that can also operate many TVs. Press the GUIDE button on your remote control. This displays the TV Guide, making it easy to tell when you find the right input. When making a regional selection during Installation, the wrong regional services could be selected.

After discussion with Arqiva (who manage the UK’s broadcast infrastructure), we implemented improved behaviour on our latest T3-R model. This behaviour has now replaced the Automatic Service Update on the T2-R:Cadbury Gifts Clarks Complete Unity Yoga Converse Crampton & Moore Outlet Crocs Currys Currys Clearance The instruction text in the Channels Editor (e.g. used for editing Favourites) could incorrectly say ‘select channel’ when it should say ‘deselect channel’ and vice versa. Split recordings are now listed in their folder from oldest at the top to newest at the bottom. These are almost always movies in two parts, so the first part will be shown first followed by the second part.

The interface is beautiful and most importantly – fast. The “smart” recording features are useful, and navigating your recordings is easy. Picture quality is great, but – as always – depends a lot on your aerial reception. Press the “Recordings” button on your remote, and you instantly get into your very own VOD library of all the programmes, series and movies you’ve recorded (and it even knows to categorise them like that).

One thing to remember about Freeview recordings, is that the recording is as good as your reception. So if the reception goes bad – for example if you move your aerial, or during a bad thunderstorm – you’ll find out later that you have a stuttering, garbled recording. The remote is laid out clearly with reasonably sized buttons that have a reassuring feel to them when pressed. Split recordings (normally movies in 2 parts) now show the time after the date so the first part can be easily identified. Further improvements to come. The TR-2 also continuously records the channel you’re on right now – up to two hours. That means you can live-pause anything you’re watching (when you get that important phone call, for example), and you can also decide you want to record and keep a show you’re watching – even after it had started. I've just bought a Manhattan T2-R PVR and I'm really impressed with it. I couldn't see any posts about it on here, so thought I'd pass on my initial thoughts. The specification here is basic but well implemented, and Manhattan's new styling is a nice improvement on its boxy designs of old. And the T2-R nicely whets the appetite for the company's incoming T3-R, which adds streaming bells and whistles. The TV Guide now indicates in the info area when a programme is running late, starting late or has started early. Designed in the UK by Manhattan for an exceptional Freeview HD experience. The compact T2-R fits into any room and puts you in control of your TV. What you are saying is change the input to TV and watch a program while the PVR is recording the other two that you have selected? By the way I hadn't noticed but while recording two programs you can watch a previously recorded program at the same time.Since the T2-R doesn’t support streaming apps, you might wonder what the Ethernet and USB ports are for. For some reason, the “Get Started” manual ignores these ports, but an added leaflet explains that they’re used to update the box’ software. There used to be an over-the-air Freeview updating service called “The Engineering Channel”, but it was shut down this year – so having another way to update the T2-R software is good. The T2•R can also be manually set to a resolution in the Picture & Sound section of the Settings menu. This could cause an issue if you set a resolution (e.g. 1080p), then move the T2•R to another TV that doesn't support that resolution. The Schedule could continue showing split events as ‘Searching…’ even after they had finished airing. At this price you don't get luxuries like app control; use the electronic programme guide (EPG) to select channels for viewing or recording instead. This can also 'remind' you when a programme is due to start and supports series-linking. If there's a schedule clash, you're invited to set recordings on the offending channel individually as
