About this deal

There aren't any noticeable changes to the original games aside from this. As a result, each one begins with a content warning, noting that some of the game's "expressions and themes may be considered outdated" but "have been included without alteration to preserve the historical context in which the game was made and the creator’s original vision." While this doesn't point to any specific examples, it doesn't take long before Snake's hitting on the first two female characters you meet in the original Metal Gear Solid. There's also a plot point that centers on the shape of Meryl's posterior, leering shots of Eva's cleavage in Snake Eater, discussions of some heavy incest themes, and a scene where the president grabs Raiden's crotch unprompted to confirm his sex, to name just a few controversial and outdated moments. These instances are cringy, gratuitous, and sometimes uncomfortable, but I also think Konami's approach is the correct one, otherwise each game would have to be significantly altered. This collection has fixed many issues present in the HD Collection versions, so it's easily the best modern way to play these titles (PS2 versions win out slightly when it comes to a few bonus features, but in terms of the core titles, they're at their best here. The very limited button customization misses out on an opportunity to maximize the controller how you wish. Instead, only the face buttons can be interchanged. You could change your Action or First Person to the Square button, but R1 and L1 are off the table. Since this menu is an overlay of the original game, the opportunity to add customization is sorely missed. The Volume 1 line-up features the original titles and beginning of the Metal Gear series, including the original versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid (which also includes VR Missions / Special Missions), and the HD Collection versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Patch 1.3.0 resolves the following issues, some of which are platform-specific, and you can peruse the complete list below: I personally am thinking they're just not wanting to record a whole ass other video for credits. As anyone that has worked on them can tell you...it's actually not that simple to get credits up and running, it's an actual video file they put in the game most of the time, and it's kind of a pain to re-record, and who knows if their names are still the same? People could have gotten married, divorced, just changed their name. mgs2 and mgs3 are merely upscaled from 720p to 1080p and are NOT native 1080p. the picture is soft and you will not see much of a difference playing the ps3 hd collection on a modern tv since your tv will do the upscaling to 1080p anyways. a modder has already patched the collection so that it runs the games at 1080p and even 4k (with old textures of course) but that is a steep improvement over what konami released! konami does not deserve another dollar for the fans. stay away! Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel– A fully-voiced digital comic depicting the events of Metal Gear Solid through beautifully dynamic animated panels. The visuals still fall well short of today's standards, but I'm in favor of retaining as much of the original games as possible. This doesn't mean Konami had to leave them alone completely, though. Other similar collections have added optional visual improvements, allowing you to swap between the original game and an updated version with greater graphical fidelity. Maybe this doesn't make sense in Snake Eater's case since a fully-fledged remake is already in development, but the Master Collection would've been elevated by including some optional advancements to modernize MGS and MGS2.Wrapper? Like physical wrapper, or UI at the start screen? Is that a wrapper? I think I'm probably just tired, but mega I'm confused as to what that means. I'm assuming it's the UI that "wraps" every game together, I don't have a copy so I'm just assuming. Lol Perhaps the most important thing here is that the Vol. 1 in the newest compilation’s moniker suggests Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots may finally shed its PS3 exclusivity in a future collection, which would be great for accessibility purposes really. Currently, the only way to play the title is on Sony’s last-last-gen console, but it’d be nice to have it readily available on the PS5. am rolls on, the door goes and my partner walks in with friends and kebabs in tow, (remember, this was before mobiles were absolutely everywhere), and said where you 2 been all night!!! Fixed an issue where continually holding down certain buttons sometimes resulted in errors occuring (PlayStation 4) The most unique part of this collection is that this game now has Trophy support. For those to whom this matters, you can also get the Platinum on both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1.

Despite year one generally being slow for any new console, there still seems to be quite a lot of news being released daily. Originally released in 1987, the first Metal Gear – directed by series creator Hideo Kojima, of course – adopted an isometric viewpoint, and was later ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System, which is the version we suspect the majority of you will be most familiar with. The sequel never actually made its way outside of its native Japan at first, but was eventually localised for the abovementioned Subsistence. Both actually represent pivotal parts of the Metal Gear plot, with the second game in particular connecting to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Released in 1998, this was the first 3D title in the METAL GEAR series. The game pioneers 3D stealth action against the threat of war and global nuclear weapons, using live action footage, cinematic cut scenes, interwoven with innovative gameplay. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2004. The prequel to the original Metal Gear is set in the 1960s, and puts players in control of Naked Snake (aka Big Boss, the antagonist of the very first game in the franchise) on a mission set largely in Soviet Russia. Metal Gear Solid 3 introduced a camouflage-based layer to the franchise’s stealth-based gameplay, along with close-quarters combat mechanics.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Digital Graphic Novel– A sequel to Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel, depicting the events of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Arnna Hmm.. nothing done to improve them? Well, the HD Collection never included MGS1. The two NES titles (MG1 & Snakes Revenge) were never re-released before. The MSX versions of MG1 & 2 previously were only accessible in MGS3 (leading to people unaware of this when buying the original collection) and are now accessible on their own. MGS1 Integral which had bonus features but was only in Japan is now playable. Visual and technical Bugs that were in the HD Collection have been fixed. Trophies were added to MG1, 2, and MGS. New trophies were added to MGS2 & 3. You can customize your save file in MGS1 Integral for the Mantis section. New disc swap animation and option to switch between different regions is expected. Oh, you can actually pause cutscenes now (albeit, there's a delay but a new feature nonetheless). Metal Gear: Snake's Revenge wasn't worked on by series creator Hideo Kojima, so it's not considered canon. This is simply a neat inclusion from the Master Collection; the actual sequel to Metal Gear is Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, not this. Play it if you like, but you're not missing out on much. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection: What to Play First

Snake’s Revenge– This ambitious Metal Gear sequel for Nintendo Entertainment System was developed with players outside of Japan in mind. New game elements were introduced to the series, including the now-mainstay searchlight mechanic. While 4Chan can often post false rumours, it does have a history of posting accurate leaks, so we will have to wait and see. I remember when metal gear solid first came out, me and my partner at that time, had a flat, you know, young couple, not too shabby, 28 inch TV that was the envy of friends lol Will you be playing the Metal Gear Solid series for the first time with the Master Collection, or are you looking to start another playthrough of the classic franchise? Before there was Metal Gear Solid, there was Metal Gear. First released on the MSX, the Master Collection respects its roots by allowing you to experience the origins of the series. Played from a top-down perspective, these games are quite a lot different from the Metal Gear Solid entries, but they are important for continuing the story on from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This isn't an essential playthrough, though. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake Version Included

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty ( HD Collection version) – This game depicts two different events: Solid Snake investigating a new kind of Metal Gear as part of the Tanker Incident, as well as FOXHOUND’s newest member, Raiden, taking on a group of terrorists who have captured an off-shore facility in the Big Shell Incident. This game, released on the PlayStation 2, introduced players to the character of Raiden, who inherited many techniques and ideas from Solid Snake. In addition to a first-person aiming feature, players also had access to a variety of new actions, such as holding up enemies and also disposing of their bodies. It was labeled “the best gameplay system of the 21st century.” An ultimate edition of the game called Substance was released later. This title was the fourth game released in the official history of the Metal Gear franchise. The biggest question for Metal Gear fans, of course, is what exactly is included in this collection. Here’s a bullet-pointed rundown: Konami will also release a collection of the first three Metal Gear Solid games later this summer. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will include the following games: Naturally, the same goes for all of the games in this bundle. The only outlier is a shared Platinum between Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Still, you can go after it twice over the two versions to maximise your trophy chasing. The PS2 Dynamic Duo The following issues were listed by Konami as being "under investigation", with the company noting that: “We will continue to provide regular updates on future improvements and fixes as further details are finalized."Metal Gear ( Nintendo Entertainment System / Famicom version) – A unique standalone installment that offers a fresh twist on the original Metal Gear‘s story and game system. An issue that causes the mic audio from game clips captured using console features to not save (Xbox Series X|S) KundaliniRising333 Schills? Interesting term. I concur that this release is far from perfect. Most of the genuine outrage I see is geared towards the PC Steam releases which have more concerning issues than console versions. As for the console versions MGS1 and 2 seem to be the only ones with some issues currently (sound and some visual effects) that can easily remedied in a patch. This not an excuse, but a mere correction to stamp out the exaggerated claims. MGS3 however, I haven't noticed any glaring issues on the same level. Some speedrunners claim this is the best modern re-release of the game. Given the power Konami has access to in the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and top-of-the-range PCs, this is somewhat of a disappointment. So much more could have been done — even just on the purely resolution and frame rate end — to make these three classics shine once more. They still do as the unique direction of Hideo Kojima is clear to see, but it's smeared somewhat by PS1 pixels and dated PS3 visuals. It was probably 5 hours, the two of us, me with the wired controller on the sofa and him sat on the floor.
