This set makes a great birthday present. LEGO 4+ sets are a fun way for kids to learn to build, boosting confidence with simple building steps.

Plane: Pretty meh. While I understand it's a 4+ set, I still think making the wings and entire bottom a single piece is bad. The rear end is generally poorly shaped, the tail rudder a little small and the side fins downright pathetic. The pilot has no hat (guess it blew out the open windows). This buildable plane set with Minion figures measures over 4” (11cm) high, 9” (24cm) long and 9” (24cm) wide, making it the perfect size for kids who love to play with toy planes. I saw the trailer for this new movie, and am glad that Gru will have a role in this one, though his top-heavy design with an orb-like torso and skinny legs isn't very well suited to portrayal as a traditional minifigure. If this license does well enough, I hope that we might see future sets featuring characters and subjects from some of the other Despicable Me and Minions films. This awesome set comes with Instructions PLUS, an interactive guide that makes building these models extra fun.
