About this deal

Glorious makes discrete but similar configuration programs for both of its mice. The Model D app has a simple one-window design that makes it easy to find every function you might need, including remapping keys, creating macros, changing DPI settings, and tweaking lighting. The switches on the LMB and RMB perform similarly, as well. Co-developed by Kailh, these switches are satisfyingly crispy (although not as sharp as mechanical switches), and have very little pre-travel for snappy performance. With the Model D, Glorious PC Gaming Race shows that it knows what's most important about making a great gaming mouse. It needs to feel good in your hand. It needs to be sturdy and reliable. It should be powerful enough that you never see the upper limits of what it can do. Don't get me wrong, I love the bells and whistles of more feature-rich mice (wireless connectivity, extra inputs, and all that), but the most important thing is that you nail the fundamentals.

Word of warning, though, if you wish to get the best out of this mouse, you need a system that can keep up. Consequently, to achieve the highest polling speeds, you must have a monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate and an Intel 9 th Gen CPU. The Glorious Model D2 Pro 4k/8K Hz edition mouse is built to last. We did not notice any lag, stutter or drops in the wireless performance, and the sensor was able to keep up with our erratic movements with ease. There was also no discernible difference between the wireless and wired mode, either.Choosing between the Model D- and Model O- will come down to comfort, and that depends on your hand, shape, size and grip. Both Minus models will feel more comfortable to smaller hands and claw grips. The larger variants will fill out a palm nicely for palm and hybrid grip players, and are naturally better suited to larger digits and pads. Plus, the Model D- is lighter than the Model D.

Let’s start by stating the obvious: The Model D- isn’t the perfect mouse for trying to run a World of Warcraft raid or fly a plane in the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. Its six-button layout is intended very much for shooters, and it’s in shooters where our testing primarily lies. Once you have your replacement mouse skates in hand, it's now time to remove your old ones from the base of the mouse. There are a few different methods to do this, but we’ll cover the main, most reliable method (in our opinion): Less visually appealing is the branding on the Model D-. The snooty reputation of the so-called Glorious PC Gaming Race is embodied through a picture of its mascot where your thumb goes, as well as on the mouse’s underside. There’s also a more forgivable and smaller “Glorious” stamp on the right side.

It All Starts With the Basics

The dedicated DPI indicator can be set to any value and colors you choose (requires software), so you always know your value when adjusting on the fly.

Model D’s HoneyComb Shell is the key to achieving a feather-light weight while maintaining its ultra-durable strength. You’ll barely feel the holes during gameplay, but they provide ventilation to keep your palms cool & fresh. Cleaning the Model D is easy, just use any air canister to keep your mouse good as new. Be careful when using the hairdryer too, as you want to avoid overheating the mouse, which can cause damage to your mouse (plastic melting or warping) and also cause injury to yourself, so proceed with caution. At the same time, other areas are more limited than what you get with a mouse from a big-name brand. For instance, the software offers only a small number of lighting patterns and effects. You can create custom profiles with different DPI presets, button mapping, and so on, but can't sync profiles to specific games and apps. Likewise, the Model D has no onboard memory, so you can't easily bring your profiles with you, though you can export and transfer them externally. It All Starts With the Basics There are three RGB zones on the Model D-: along each side and on the scroll wheel. Are all customizable via Glorious’ own software (more on that later). These RGB zones are pin-sharp. When I first plugged in the mouse, a rainbow effect took over by default. It was genuinely impressive how many individual regions there were along those bands of RGB. Its a really good mouse, great sensor, light, feels great in hand, only thing id worry about is build quality, obvs because its perforated, it would probably break after having a heavy textbook dropped on it. But if you don't really put your mouse in those type of situations then you're good. Glorious has long been renowned for its excellent gaming pedigree. Therefore, when they used their groundbreaking Model D mouse as a blueprint, I knew this iteration would be special. However, I was still amazed by the technical aspects!
