About this deal
This has been one of the best courses I have attended in long time. Most courses provide too much theory. This provided good practical advice on how to teach and adapt the information and games for my learners. Access to a copy of the book: Morph Mastery - A Morphological Intervention for Reading, Spelling and Vocabulary ( delegates will be offered a 20% discount) Electronic copies of the handouts will be provided but delegates will be responsible for printing off their own copies as this event is online. Joining Instructions Delegates will be sent a link to Zoom where the course will be held a few days before. You do no need specialist software or an app to attend. Terms & Conditions/Cancellation
This course will focus on the recommended Morph Mastery intervention structure of 3 x weekly 30 minute lessons for up to 3 pupils, but you’ll come away with the skills and knowledge to enable you to adapt the strategies to your setting. Most existing interventions for children and teens with literacy difficulties use a phonic based approach. However, often by Year 5 and beyond, some pupils have failed repeatedly using this approach and an alternative is required Course Description Research shows that morphology is not only effective in good quality first teaching as a complement to phonics, but also in intervention to support literacy difficulties as an alternative to traditional phonics intervention. This introduction to morph mastery is presented by Louise Selby. Suitable for educators and parents. IntroductionResearch shows that morphology is not only effective in good quality first teaching as a complement to phonics, but also in intervention to support literacy difficulties as an alternative to traditional phonics intervention. Introduction
This is a practical workshop for the beginner and non-specialist, and will cover some basic knowledge, principles, teaching techniques and games which make learning both multi-sensory and fun for the child. It will enable me to suggest to school a viable alternative to phonic approaches- while morphological approaches have been suggested before we haven’t had a standalone and coherent programme to suggest and this gives one, which is great.
You’ll need allocated time to do the practical tasks between sessions - some of this will be reading/planning and some will be with your learner - approx 1-2 hours between sessions A practical course, presented by Louise Selby, which trains and supports practitioners in delivering Morph Mastery as a complete Intervention. Practical activities will be provided between each sessions with the opportunity for discussion.
