The latest iteration involved a compression band to adapt to your foot shape, evolving from the first concept of infinite lacing options. This greatly improved the boot with an improved fit but I found the touch on the ball to feel pretty… meh. Forefoot has no structure and feels extremely soft and pliable; comfortable feel favourite part of Jay Mike about the Future It hasn’t taken the big cat long to improve on their Future Z again and this time, I think it is almost perfect. Puma Future Z 1.3: Going bigger on compression Don’t be looking for a new boot bag in the box of the FUTURE, 'cos you'll be disappointed, but you will get some extra laces that will allow you to further dress up your design. Considering lacing is being sold as one of the biggest tech innovations of the boot, it makes perfect sense that they’d want you to be as motivated as possible to try unique lacing options. The concept began in 2018 with the Future NETFIT and its lace-how-you-like customisable closure system. Then we had the Future Z with its trademark midfoot band and soleplate bridge, followed by the Future Ultimate, which uses PWRTAPE tech on the upper to offer targeted support. The goal is the same with every Future: to enable players to move unrestricted. The only limit is your imagination.
It is impressive how many layers it seems that PUMA have been able to hide under the hood of this boot without it being overly bulky or making the touch super dampened, but maybe we could have done without a few of the textures on the upper to let us be a bit closer to the ball. The Future Pro are less premium than Neymar’s boots, but the two still have that quality feel nonetheless and made even more attractive by its significantly cheaper valuation. It retains the Fuzionfit compression band, Dynamic Motion System tooling, and PWRTAPE on the sides. Match The Puma Ultra is becoming increasingly popular within world football, top names such as *deep inhale* Christian Pulisic, Antony, Raphaël Varane, Harry Maguire, Olivier Giroud, Cody Gakpo, Kyle Walker, Aleksandar Mitrović and Oleksandr Zinchenko, are all wearing them.

But even with all that, it’s the dual density SPEEDPLATE outsole that steals the show, providing unbridled power off the mark when it comes to sprints. Who wears Puma Ultra?The compression bands held my feet firm and pivoting around in the Z soleplate is effortless, even on artificial ground (AG). Puma’s firm ground (FG) boots tend to be quite AG friendly and the Puma Future Z is no exception, earning our seal of approval for AG pitches.
The original Puma King has been one of the world’s finest football boots since 1966 (great year). But this Puma King is an update on that classic. The boot follows the standard options for every surface type, with FG/AG, MxSG, MG, TT and IT outsoles all available. The first time I put the boots on, I thought the compression band was tight around my midfoot – if it was a little tighter, the band would have caused cramping in my feet. Within a couple of minutes of light jogging and warm ups, my concerns and the tightness melted away. The compression band is comfy AF. The Puma Future Z is all about mobility Designed for tomorrow’s superstars, these are the children’s versions of the Future, so players can wear boots that look like their favourite stars on pitch, but at a price point to keep parents happy.Striking was one of my favourite things to do in the Puma Future Z 1.3. The upper takes the stinging sensation out of your shot but provides you with that oomph you get from a classic power boot when striking the ball through the sweet spot. The effectiveness of the compression band also means that my planting foot was well secure when attempting to strike into the top corners. Previous Future compression band feels too concentrated on the midfoot; compression in new Future Z 1.3 feels evenly spread out
