About this deal

Pyra and Mythra join recently added characters Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7, Min Min from Arms, and Steve/Alex from Minecraft. They’re the fourth of six new fighters promised as part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Lv. 4 (Max. Affinity with Nia after Chapter 9 Jin Battle) - Union Sword - Beat the enemy to a pulp with a medley of fire and water. According to Masahiro Sakurai, the development team considered having Rex fighting alongside Pyra and Mythra, but this was decided against due to the difficulty the team had with the Ice Climbers in contexts such as 8-Player Smash. Sakurai specifically cited the far more complicated design and abilities of Pyra and Mythra compared to the relatively simple appearance and moveset of the Ice Climbers. [1] Another issue was getting both characters to move at the same time which the development team found was impossible to do; similarly, it was deemed too difficult to implement Rex as the main fighter with Pyra behind him. This ultimately led to Rex being reduced to a smaller supporting role and Mythra being included along with Pyra with the two being able to swap instead. [2] When Jin overpowers the group later, Pyra threatens to commit suicide with Siren unless Jin spares the others in return for her surrender. With how important Pyra was, and suspecting she had an ulterior motive should he force her to kill herself, Jin concedes, and once Pyra is taken into Torna's custody, Malos reveals that he intends to use her to restore his own Aegis Core Crystal that was damaged following their last fight during the Aegis War. He then painfully absorbs the energy needed to restore his Core Crystal and Aegis powers, resulting in Pyra being left an unconscious husk.

Sakurai also showed off new Monster Hunter- and Ghosts ’n Goblins-inspired costumes for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Mii Fighters. Glimmer bears a striking resemblance to Pyra, bearing an identical Core Crystal to her and Mythra. As well, her hair color lines up with the baby Pyra holds in the photo at the end of Xenoblade 3. Nintendo revealed the addition of Pyra and Mythra during a Nintendo Direct presentation in February. The pair appear in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as main character Rex’s two-in-one ally, and they’re invited to Smash Bros. later this month. Pyra and Mythra have their own separate announcer calls used on the character selection screen and their victory poses. Additionally, any files that pertain to Rex are codenamed "diver", referencing his occupation as a salvager.I am looking for opportunities to crew on and be a general helping hand on cruiser yachts throughout the season and learn as much as I can in the process. Succeeding Min Min, Pyra and Mythra are the second and third characters that were spirits in the base game. Pyra is tied to Mythra as a two-in-one fighter like how Princess Zelda and Sheik function in Melee and Brawl. She can switch places with Mythra by using her down special move, Swap. Vandham subsequently escorts the party to Fonsa Myma where they meet Cole. Pyra knows Cole as Minoth, a Flesh Eater who fought alongside Mythra during the Aegis War, and Cole suggests that his Driver Amalthus may know how to reach the World Tree. During their stay in Fonsa Myma, Cole's adopted granddaughter Iona is kidnapped by Malos, who sends Pyra a telepathic message instructing her to meet him alone in the Olethro Ruins. Without waking her companions, Pyra leaves to save Iona.

Whilst headed to Indol to visit Amalthus, the party stops in the Leftherian Archipelago, where Rex was brought up. He brings Pyra to his parents' graves, introducing her and his mission to them. Rex's aunt Corinne suggests that Pyra may marry Rex, as Blades often marry their Drivers, which flusters Pyra greatly. Their victory fanfare also has an internal codename, namely "element", which is presumably what the "e" stands for. Final Smash: Burning Sword. Pyra lends Rex her Aegis Sword and he attempts to slash any opponent in from of them. If successful, a cutscene plays where she and Rex summon a large pillar of fire under the targeted opponents. The stage choice is a reference to the mid-boss room in the Water Temple where Link fights Dark Link in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.Pyra is a weaker form created by Mythra, which is supposedly the reason that her element is fire, compared to Mythra's light. Primarily, this stems from the trauma of Mythra's final battle with Malos killing countless bystanders and sinking the Kingdom of Torna. As a result, Pyra was born with the burden of Mythra's most painful experience, and created to keep Mythra, and thus her power, sealed away indefinitely. Up: Holds the Aegis Sword in front of her. She and Rex then hold it together and point it up in the air while letting out a battle cry. The final pose is similar to when they hold up the Aegis Sword during Burning Sword. After Pneuma's sacrifice and the rebirth of the world, Pneuma's core crystal begins to glow in Rex's hand. He resonates with it again and in a brilliant pillar of light both Pyra and Mythra reawaken in separate bodies. An overhead crescent slash with the Aegis Sword ablaze that ends in a delayed somersault, resembling the up aerials of most of the Fire Emblem characters. Boasts great power like her other aerials, and it autocancels almost immediately after the hitboxes cease, making it a hard move to contest in the air. Blazing End had its collision activate earlier to better match the animations and its animation changed to be more visual from certain camera angles.

Pyra and her alternate forms, Mythra and Pneuma, are the only Blades guaranteed to be available at any point during a New Game Plus playthrough regardless of the player's previous progress, even before Rex awakens her or when captured during the story. Because of this, Pyra/Mythra are the respective second and third fighters whose Fighter Spirits are marked as "Name (Fighter)", due to already having regular spirits in the base game.Forward smash: A lunging, two-handed downward slash with the Aegis Sword ablaze that ends with a fiery explosion once it hits the ground. After sealing the third Aegis Sword in Elpys, Addam, her original Driver, would place Pyra within the Ancient Vessel and sink it beneath the Cloud Sea, where she would sleep for nearly 500 years. Being an Aegis, she persisted long after Addam's death. Pyra remains in stasis for 500 years, until Torna discovers the location of the Ancient Ship and send a salvaging team to haul it up. This team includes Rex, a Leftherian boy, who touches Pyra's sword accidentally upon discovering her, forcing Jin to kill him. As Rex has touched the sword, Pyra is able to talk to him through in a memory of Elysium, and she asks him if he will become her Driver and take her to Elysium. Rex agrees and is resurrected with part of Pyra's Core Crystal sustaining his heart, and the two fight their way off the ship, escaping Torna with the help of Azurda. The blade trail effect of the Aegis was tweaked several times, particularly the flame effect to reduce potential hitbox jank.
