About this deal

This resurrection will be enjoyed by everyone who repents of their sinfulness and places their faith in him. No longer will there be a fearful expectation of death and judgment, but the inheritance of eternal life in the presence of God where we will be holy and blameless before him, all because of Christ. Our sins are pardoned forever through his finished work and have been removed from us as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12). Compare 2 Maccabees 7:18: “We are suffering these things on our own account, because of our sins against our own God.” ↩

J. Alec Motyer explains, “Isaiah does not use the word ‘resurrection,’ but these verses display the Servant ‘alive after his suffering’ (Acts 1:3).” 21 God not only receives Jesus’s sacrifice for sinners but also vindicates Jesus after his suffering by raising him to unending life. Cultures and organizations: software of the mind, third edition. New York: McGraw-Hill. The unswerving focus on Jesus means that all other characters are thrown into the shade. Many are confined within their own pericope/ae and exist primarily as foils to Jesus. We might think of “King” Herod here, the Pharisees, or the Syro-Phoenician woman. Even the twelve disciples, who appear in several episodes, are brought into the narrative mainly to shed light on Jesus. Creating a coherent characterization for the Twelve is notoriously difficult; scholars are forced to conclude that their portrayal is at best ambiguous. Much is resolved, however, when we realize that Mark’s audience does not look to the disciples for role models but to Jesus (as noted above). Although individual disciples might occasionally provide examples – mostly negative ones, such as Peter and Judas, the primary purpose of the Twelve is to develop the portrait of Jesus further. In the early part of the Gospel, the Twelve provide a body of intimate companions, enhancing Mark’s portrait of Jesus as a charismatic teacher. In the middle section of the Gospel, the Twelve repeatedly ask questions, their misunderstanding acting as a literary trope which allows the Markan Jesus further opportunities to explain his counter-cultural teaching. And in the concluding chapters, the Twelve’s cowardice highlights Jesus’ obedience to the Father and purposeful journey to the cross. It’s clear that the Markan Jesus has to die alone – his death is a ransom, creating a [new] covenant with God – and the departure of the Twelve shines the light ever more intensely on our hero.

But human beings don't have any other language available, so they have to do the best that they can with it. That's fine, as long as they remember that the whole truth of the nature of God is simply beyond them. Most importantly, the gospel is an everlasting pardon. Through Christ’s resurrection, he rose again and became the firstborn from the dead so that those for whom he laid down his life will also rise with him in glory on the last day. When Christians say that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father (and the Son), what do they mean, and why do they use such an odd word?

The Essential (also called Immanent or Ontological) Trinity looks at the essence or substance of God; at what God is actually like in himself as he stands outside the created universe. It's how God appears to God.

How do casual carelessness and foolishness spoil our life?It has been contended that a saviour sibling may suffer psychological harm if he discovers that he was conceived solely or partly to be an HSC donor for his ailing sibling. However, there appears to be insufficient empirical evidence to support such an allegation (Ram 2006). Conversely, it can be argued that there could be potential psychological benefits for the saviour sibling, knowing that he has contributed to the attempt to save or cure his ailing sibling, regardless of whether the HSC transplantation is successful or not (Strong et al. 2011). However, whether such psychological benefit outweighs the medical risks of the procedure, even if it may be small is arguable (Rubeis and Steger 2019).
