About this deal

Thankfully she is saved by Jenkins : her mysterious and neglectful royal father’s right hand who fixes things and makes arrangements but this time for preventing a conviction, Jenkins decides to take the matters into his own hands and puts Evan into private plane that is heading to the UK. Evan finds herself in the palace, meeting with her condescending sister Maise , her vengeful mother Helen, her noisy cousin Ben, her flirty-joyful uncle Nicholas and of course her father dearest- king of the UK who abandoned her to be raised by her grandmother and prevent her to see her own mother who suffers from mental health issues. You guys!!!! This book is so much fun!!! I loved the premise and the cast of characters was fantastic! She didn’t remember the details of the night because she’s been drugged but somebody is out there to do everything in his power to ruin her life! She has to find the real perpetrator to fix her reputation and in the meantime she has to find a way to bury the hatchet and learn to forgive her own father for years of neglecting. This got me in all my soft spots, and I can't wait for more! I love Evan's character and can't wait to see more of her royal journey!

Now, the lives of her loved ones are also at risk, and she has to face her fears, calculating how far she can go to save their lives. Who can she trust when everyone in her life is suspected of plotting her demise? Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group & NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. I received this book for free, but all thoughts are my own. – SLR 🖤

As the King of England’s illegitimate daughter, 17-year-old Evan Bright knows a thing or two about keeping secrets. With its exciting plot, family intrigue, and great characters, I recommend ROYAL BLOOD to readers who enjoy contemporary young adult fiction, especially those who like a secret baby or fish out of water theme. Our story focuses on Evan Bright, the seventeen-year-old illegitimate daughter of Alexander, the King of England. Evan has always known who her father is, but she has no relationship with him. After an unfortunate incident at her boarding school - having been excluded from many - Evan is forced to England where her father wants her to be.

The story includes an incident of drugging, attempted date rape, and death, and the author presents the events from Evan’s point of view without excuses from the perpetrator. As the tragedy unfolds, readers will recognize and relate to how easily the awful events happened. Wow, what a cliffhanger!!!! Before reading this novel, I knew from Goodreads that there would be a third book in the series. However, I wasn't expecting such a big cliffhanger at the end of this one! I now want to read the third book even more than I wanted to read this one. And considering I jumped straight from finishing the first book into reading the ARC of this one, that's saying something. This is a busy and torturous time for her. But, I loved seeing her strength and her character overcome these hard hits, even when it all felt like a lost cause. I loved the attention of what it's like for a person to recover from sexual assault. More than anything, I loved learning more about her father and her mother's relationship. After a fun night turns deadly and Evan becomes the primary suspect in a murder investigation, the escalating rumors and fallout threaten to tear her life apart. As she fights to uncover the truth about what happened, she discovers royal secrets that are even more scandalous than she imagined – secrets that could change the monarchy forever.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Children's / Delacorte Press for sharing this amazing book's digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest thoughts. An entertaining and scandalous reimagining of the British royal family, Royal Blood is The Princess Diaries meets What A Girl Wants meets Gossip Girl. Fans of the aforementioned coming-of-age royal comedies will enjoy the nostalgia of a story centred on a down-to-earth American teen dumped into a stuffy institution full of rigid rules and formal etiquette. Evan has a lot in common with Mia Thermopolis and Daphne Reynolds, but she’s much more unenthusiastic about being a princess and she has regular, real world struggles too. Not only is she grappling with an estranged father, a difficult extended family and possible murder charges, she’s also struggling to maintain a relationship with her mother, whose serious mental illness has kept Evan at a distance for most of her life. She thought she had already gotten rid of the problem and was pursuing a more peaceful life with her father by her side, getting closer to her step-sister, and enjoying the company of her boyfriend Kit, who planned to spend Christmas with her. But unfortunately, the unexpected reappearance of Ben in their lives starts a turmoil of events that turn Evan into both a victim and a perpetrator. The press keeps pushing Evan's limits and pointing at her as if she's the one responsible for the demise of the monarchy. Kit's involvement is also something that is at times questionable. I didn't know whether to trust him, especially when revelations came out after a bombing.

I enjoyed Evan’s character, and she is strong. I felt for her as she must spend time with a family that isn’t happy to meet her, and she hasn’t seen her mother since she was a child. Evan’s situation becomes even more difficult as the media watch her every move and she’s not sure who she can trust. Despite all the challenges Evan faces, she perseveres, and I enjoyed watching her learn more about herself and her family as the book progresses. ❀ A Fast-Paced ThrillerAn American girl becomes the British Monarchy’s greatest nightmare in this thrilling new series where royal scandals just got deadlier. While reading this book, I laughed, I cried (not nearly as much as when I read the previous one, though), and I melted thanks to the adorable romance. Oh, and I was also on the edge of my seat, waiting to see how things would be resolved. And I'm still waiting for that, thanks to the cliffhanger.

Royal Blood has mystery, scandal, romance and royal glamour in spades, but it’s the more subtle parts of the story – the sweet bond that develops between Evan and Kit, and Evan’s empathy towards her mum – that readers can relate to. We might not be able to identify with the royal family – fictional or real – but we can all understand complicated family dynamics, mental health struggles and the typical angst that every teen, regardless of the family they’re born into, goes through. If it’s the promise of secrets and scandal that draws you to this book, then it’s the emotional heart that will keep you reading and looking forward to the next one in the series. Royal Blood marks the start of what seems to be a highly entertaining series and I’m grateful to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this prior to publication. Once ensconced at Windsor Castle and among the family and their coterie of relatives and friends, Evan is targeted by the media and attracts all manner of abuse from the press and their followers. But the intrigue starts immediately and although, Maisie, Gia, and Rosie start out as typical ‘mean girls,’ they eventually start to relent, especially when Evan holds the key to keeping their princess out of serious trouble. However, she finally has something she’s not had in the past: a friend her age.

And this is not only scandalous news that will tear apart the British Royals!
