About this deal

Southwest Archery is a USA based company that has been in the archery industry for over 20 years. They have a vast experience on what an Olympian or a professional archer demand from a traditional bow manufacturer. The Height of a modern Olympic Recurve bow is dictated by a combination of the riser size and the limb size. Combining long limbs with two different size risers will result in two different size bows. The typical Olympic riser size is either 23, 25" and 27". Bow sizing based on archer's Draw Length for Traditional Takedown However, draw weight depends on draw length. The difference of every inch of draw length, draw weight is increase or decrease by 2½ pounds. Suppose your draw length is 28’’ then your recommended draw weight will be 45#. In our buyer’s guide, we showed the process of how you can measure the draw length? Buoyant and Strong Limbs The Sage takedown recurve bow offered a wide range of poundage like 25#, 30# 35#, 40#, 45#, 50#, 55#, and 60#. Thus, 40# or higher is the best choice if you are a seasoned archer. On the other hand, if you are a beginner or young man or adult woman, 30 to 35 pounds draw weight is perfect for you to start. With a 35# bow, you can shoot up to 30 yards distance without any problems. The draw weight of a bow measures how much potential energy the bow can store when it’s drawn, and a bow with a lower draw weight (say, 30 pounds) will store less potential energy and shoot with less force than a bow with a higher draw weight (say, 50 pounds). The higher the draw weight, the stronger the bow, and the faster it shoots.

So, with a takedown bow, because you can remove the limbs, you can start off with a lower draw weight, and when you’re ready, remove the limbs and replace them with stronger ones—making the bow more powerful. Southwest Archery has 20 + years of experience in the archery industry. They know well what an archer needs. Therefore, you can put your faith in the Southwest Spyder as their primary mission is to deliver high-quality products and excellent customer service. Final Thoughts on Southwest Spyder Review Pre-installed threaded brass bushings for easy attachment of accessories (stabilizers, bow sights, quivers)

What we think about this bow

Mixed bag; finger tab, arm guard, and fabric quiver included but of lower quality than the bow itself

It will give you options to choose your suitable poundage from its wide range of draw weight starting from 20# to max. 60# and also available in two different bow length 62’’ & 64’’. Remember that with a traditional bow the weight will change depending upon what your draw length is. Bow weight will change approximately ±2½ pounds for every inch from a bows rated draw length. So a bow rated 45# @ 28" bow is roughly a 42½# @ 27" or 47½# @ 29". Draw weight is marked at the nearest 5# increment to actual weight, (2#'s under and 3#'s over). This is an industry wide standard. For a proper archery session, having a few more arrows in the set would have been ideal. However, this minor shortcoming didn’t overshadow the overall excitement of unboxing this impressive recurve bow. Ergonomic Design and Aesthetics As it is easy to separate and easy to connect the limbs, you can use it during your trips to hunting with comfort. Also, if you want to change the limbs in the future for an upgrade to higher poundage, you can do it effortlessly and cost-effectively. The flush bolts and a printed spider with southwest archer logo on limbs provide a more simplified but original look and feel. An Allen wrench included attaching the limbs with the riser. Wide Ranges of Draw Weight

As a left-handed archer, the availability of a left-handed bow delighted me. However, I encountered a minor hiccup when I discovered that I had received an incorrect finger tab for my hand orientation. A good quality, affordable 62” takedown recurve bow used for field archery and target archery that won't break the bank.

It’s lighter, better quality, and a wider range of draw weights than Sage. It’s a perfect bow for all gender and age, and suitable for beginner to intermediate archers. Riser: Radiused, cut-on center shelf for shooting "off the shelf"' if you prefer (rest and plate sold separately). Combination of laminated Olive Dymondwood and Hard Maple for extreme durability and good balance in the hand. Includes AMO sight (also known as ATA accessory), plunger, and a front stabilizer brass bushings installed. With these bushings you can install bow sights, bow fishing reels, plunger with elevated rest, and/or a stabilizer to fully customize your shooting experience to your needs. A riser is a combination of Maple and Dymondwood and offers a beautiful and durable two-tone semi-gloss finish. The combination makes it long-lasting and resilient. Its simple design and comfy grip material make it easy to handle. Arrow Rest: NO Arrow Rest is included with the Sage. Apex Hunting recommends purchasing a Bear Hair Rest for traditional feather fletched arrows or a leaf style screw in rest for all others. We earlier said that the riser equipped with threaded inserts for different kinds of accessories. Either you love to shoot from the arrow shelf, which cut approx. 1/8″ past center or would instead use a mechanical arrow rest both the options are available in this versatile recurve bow.
