Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed is a Novelization of the film, with most scenes being described from the point and view of the characters. Scooby accidentally actives the machine that brings monsters to life while in the lab, rather than in The Monster Hive. When Shaggy is flexing his muscles the refrigerator door is open and he's standing right in front of it but in the next shot when he throws the potion that Scooby made, the door is closed and he's standing off to the side.

Having become celebrities of their hometown of Coolsville, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred of Mystery Inc., have been invited to the grand opening of the Coolsonian Criminology Museum as the guests of honor, where their screaming fans watch them walk past. Accompanied by the gorgeous news reporter Heather Jasper Howe and other members of the press, the gang enter the museum to open an exhibit which is full of costumes of their former foes from past mysteries.
