The SNK809 does exactly what it’s supposed to do, and nothing more: It’s accessible, affordable, and offers a more than solid entry point into the world of mechanical watches. water resistance isn’t very high, it’s suitable for day to day use but you can’t go swimming etc with it. As is typical of most automatic movements, once you stop wearing it for a day or so it will run out of power. You’ll simply need to give it a starting wind to get going and adjust the time when you next use it.It seems that few watches are as fondly regarded as the humble Seiko 5 SNK809. It’s exactly what I’d expect to find in a watch in this price range so I’m very pleased with that. We didn’t say all of that as a suggestion that Seiko should have fitted a bracelet to the SNK809. Budget watches can be great at many things, but bracelets at the lowest price point can feel like they’re made out of tweezers.
