About this deal

While entries in the series generally stand independent of each other with different characters and stories, they are commonly linked by their gameplay, themes and high fantasy settings. The series is characterized by its art style, which draws from Japanese manga and anime, and its action-based fighting system called the "Linear Motion Battle System". Multiple people have become linked with the series, including character designers Kōsuke Fujishima and Mutsumi Inomata, producers Hideo Baba and Makoto Yoshizumi, and composer Motoi Sakuraba. The series was created by Yoshiharu Gotanda. Tales of Eternia does the former brilliantly and the latter with mediocrity. As a result the reason why you like to play RPGs becomes a primary concern in determining whether you'll rate this game the runaway success everyone else says it is. A 13 episode anime series produced and animated by Xebec also called Tales of Eternia was inspired by the game; the series originally ran on Japanese television from 8 January 2001 to 26 March 2001. Tales of Eternia was licensed by Media Blasters on 6 July 2002 for North American distribution, but the company's license expired and it was never released in the region. The plot of the anime series is completely unrelated to the story of the original game, but contains common elements including the four main characters, Greater Craymels, and spells. A manga version of the anime was released in 2002. Katanas Are Just Better: The ninja sword (found in a pirate storehouse!) is one of the best swords in the game, with highly balanced stats and good damage output.

The game also has the Gentallman enemy that randomly appears in Gnome's Mine, whose name refers to the fact that it is a very tall and vaguely humanoid monster.

Dead All Along: Balir, the ruler of Celestia. The heroes think he's the one trying to end the world and a group of Celestians known as Shileska plan to overthrow him, but despite what the general public of Celestia believes, he's been dead for some time. Each party can have up to four members comprised of any combination of character classes. Experience is calculated based on the average level of all players in the party. Higher-leveled players gain slightly more experience compared to lower-leveled players in the same party. An "Even Share" option is also available, with the experience points given by a monster divided equally among the four members in the party. Due to the way the experience values are calculated, the former arrangement gives more net experience per member. To solve this, most parties were often composed of members within three levels of each other.

It also deconstructs the Manchild, by examining why an adult or older teenager would act like a young child despite being much older. When Meredy was six years old, her father was murdered by a racist mob led by Meredy's uncle, Hyades. Meredy's mother, Shizel, subsequently went insane and became possessed by an evil god, killing hundreds of people at once; Meredy and Hyades only survived because as Shizel's biological relatives they could just as easily have been possessed instead. Meredy froze her emotional development for the next ten years because she would have gone catatonic with grief otherwise. In fact, many hi-ougis will not kill their targets (leaving them at 1 HP instead) except for the last hit. Holy Lance has the same effect (those 100 damage hits the lances do will never kill its target, only the damage procured from the explosion will). Admittedly trivial pursuit but hey. We all love playing team deathmatch or any other mode where all you need to worry about is being the one to shoot first. However, if you want to earn that sweet XP fast, you need to choose one of the objective modes like Domination, Hardpoint, Ground War, or even Kill Confirmed. Not only do you get XP for killing enemies, but the amount you get on top of that for playing the objective can make up the bulk of your XP gain. This is especially true if you're not at the top of your game and end up dying more than you kill since you have another method to contribute. Also, objective modes grant you an XP bonus just for finishing the match.

Ras is the son of a noble lord and a commoner woman who married into nobility. His mother was elegant and beautiful for a peasant, and she always had a fragrance of wildflowers that surrounded her, enrapturing everyone she meets. These wildflowers, the Donies flowers, would later become the personal symbol of Ras, as well as a centerpiece of the Inferian play, The Tale of Ultus Veigh. In the Let's Play done by PrinceBoo21 (seen here ), he actually keeps running counters for how many times they say their individual phrases.

a b Winkler, Chris (December 11, 2007). "Tales Series Sales Top 10 Million Mark". RPGFan. Archived from the original on March 26, 2012 . Retrieved June 19, 2013. Killer Rabbit: Literally. Rabbit-like enemies called Rapid Rabbits appear during random encounters on Celestia, and they don't look very threatening and tend to be easier to defeat than a lot of enemies at that point. A pink Palette Swap called the Pink Hopper appears a bit later in the game, and it looks even less threatening.
