About this deal

The characters were a mixed bunch that I could take or leave. Alice made a lot of stupid decisions that made her look half crazy, and even stalkerish, but I liked her. I wasn't a fan of Mark purely for the fact that he could so easily dump his wife of fifteen years for a younger woman. And Norah, I didn't much like her for the same reason. Scott was a creep that just slithered around for opportunity - I didn't trust him one bit. And Felix was a little too good to be true. I enjoy the odd Psychological Thiller as you tend to know what you are getting, so yeah you may have to suspend disbelief at some of story but I expect that with Psychological thrillers (to an extent) and this book works really well as the plot and the characters are clever and I enjoyed the suspense.

This book will have you in a finger-pointing frenzy, accusing pretty much anyone and everyone. Who’s telling the truth? Who’s lying? Is anyone innocent in all of this? I can’t tell you how many times I changed my mind on who to trust. (Love that!) The story soon reaches the point where the reader is put in the position where we're hesitant to trust anyone, with each chapter unravelling another secret and another lie that had me questioning my previous assumptions. Very cleverly plotted, I just had to discover where exactly the story was headed, bingeing on all the juicy and mind blowing plot twists the author masterfully prepared, finishing off with a wow ending that had my ravenous appetite for domestic psychological dramas thoroughly and absolutely satiated! New thriller The Ex-Wife is the latest drama to be aired on Channel 5. The series, which is based on the bestselling novel by Jess Ryder, gets its terrestrial release after previously dropping on Paramount+ last year. Natasha’s life seems perfect, I said “seems” because she has everything, a handsome husband who’s rich, a beautiful home and a lovely baby girl. But she can’t enjoy all of them because of her husband’s ex-wife, Jen. She is everywhere, Jen is the wife that her husband’s family like and she is in all their family gathering, always in touch with the husband. It’s like Jen still is his wife, not Natasha. One day when Natasha comes home he couldn’t find her daughter and her husband. She searches everywhere and asks everyone but no one knows anything. And still, there is someone who has to ask, Jen. Can she trust Jen? Does Jen know anything at all? And if she doesn’t so what’s happened to the husband and the baby girl? This book is written in third person perspective with the main protagonists being Alice Hargraves, Cassie Hargreaves, Norah Richmond and DI Belinda Day. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything. In a genre often saturated with similar themes, "The Ex-Wife" manages to stand out, delivering a dark and captivating narrative that will keep readers guessing. This book is a must-read if you’re a fan of psychological thrillers filled with suspense and surprises. Sally Rigby and Amanda Ashby have crafted a compelling tale that will leave you eagerly anticipating their next collaboration. And then there's Cassie and to be honest I spent very little time on her chapters because I was not interested in following around the typical silly teen girl who so easily is pulled into trouble by those older, smoldering, lying, cheating teen boys. *sigh* The ex-wife’ starts with a prologue where we meet Anna lying in a hospital bed, obviously distraught and not aware of what happened to her. WHAT did I just read!!!! WOW!!! I mean seriously Wow!! I was NOT expecting that lot fair play!!! This has GOT to start with a MASSIVE WELL DONE SALLY AND AMANDA!!!! Ooopps sorry, yes, needed a minute to get over that but I've just left you hanging there... Sorry.... Let me tell you more... Kudos to Jess Ryder for writing this gripping psychological thriller that I just couldn't put down! Highly Recommend

Natasha is a new wife and mother. She’s married to a strikingly handsome, wealthy husband who adores her, and a beautiful young daughter she loves with all her heart. Sounds fairly close to perfect...right? A riveting psychological thriller that takes the familiar story of an ex-wife and infuses it with unexpected twists, suspense, and a cast of characters with dark secrets, making it an unputdownable read. Alice finds out that Norah plans to have a baby of her own and that poses many problems. All the deep, dark secrets that Alice has kept hidden for years risk being exposed. Alice must do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn’t happen.

About him, there is more development in the book description than the rest of the book (which is not a descrition btw,is the first chapter)

And then he drops another bombshell. Quite by accident. He and Norah are trying IVF. They are planning to have a baby together. No, this cannot be happening. Suddenly, Norah is threatening to take everything else away from her carefully laid plans and Alice couldn't let that happen. And so what ensues is one bad decision after another which ultimately leads to Alice sitting in a prison cell awaiting trial for murder. How did it come to this? How did she get here? Wow, doesn’t this make you want to read this book. Writing this review made me realize the various plots and subplots being played all at the same time making this one twisty read. Part of the allure of it and part of the challenge for me was that there are moments when we want the audience on side and then there are moments when you want the audience to question whether they are on the right side or not."I was originally drawn to this book by its gorgeous eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'A brand new psychological thriller that will keep you guessing till the end! Perfect for fans of Sue Watson, Nina Manning, Shalini Boland.' I am a huge fan of all three of Shalini Boland and Sue Watson so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Boldwood. I have yet to read a book published by Boldwood that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book). I read this one over a couple of hot sunny (heat wave) evenings in the garden and really enjoyed the drama.
