About this deal

Summary: The story is compressed into less time than it will take you to read it but you'll never be off the edge of your seat. A good read. Overall, we thought the characters all worked pretty well across the story. They’re all presented as being competent and intelligent, reminding us a lot of some of the characters from a book like Shiver or Breathless. What worked especially well was how Kate had to try several things before making any sort of breakthrough, such is the expertise Joel has in what he does. A f ast-paced twisty read that races along like an action movie’ - Sarah Pinborough, author of Insomnia There is a unique and researched approach given for approaching the tough algorithm questions and how to make decisions in such problems. Slowly, you’ll be drawn into the tragic story of Kate’s life before the interview, and start to see some reasons why she’s here, but you’ll be pulled a long way into the novel before the picture becomes clear. Along the way there’s all sorts of ultra-tense action as Kate tries everything from fighting and smashing her way out to swinging from a rope in the elevator shaft. It has a breathless, claustrophobic air to it, you can feel the blows Joel rains upon her, suffering her injuries with her, and there are times you’ll think her heart is going to stop, and yours with it.

Thriller fans, brace yourselves – this book will swallow you whole. You are going to be holding your breath from start to finish and loving every minute. Do not miss out, add this title to your TBR – C M Ewan will leave you WOW’ED with this one. Off the bat, Ewan has undoubtedly tapped into a thrilling premise here. Taking something as mundane and ordinary as a job interview and gradually morphing it into something far more nerve-shredding hooked us in right from the start. We absolutely flew through the first half of the book or so. Still, this had the potential to be a good spicy book for BookTok but had to be better edited and completely shortened. In the beginning, I genuinely liked the book, but towards the middle, I got bored and wondered why I’m still reading this book when nothing interesting is happening. So many unnecessary chapters that added no value to the plot. Some parts had to be completely scrabbed off and needed a bigger plot twist. I ended up skimming toward the end just to see what more the author had to write about. Waveland Press Inc., the publisher of Basic Interviewing Skills, made a wonderful attempt with the help of author Raymond L. Gorden to provide a point of view of an interviewer on how to standardize and improve the interview experience for both interviewer and interviewee. Book Review: Not just first-time job seekers but also career changers can read this book on identifying your strengths gained from previous jobs and presenting or selling yourself in the market.

The only thing I would say is that I felt it was a little bit long. Given the premise and the small number of characters I felt it dragged a bit in the middle and could possibly have benefitted from being slightly shorter and kept the story a little tighter. It's hard to say more without spoilers. So yes, Kate is a good character, so is Joel for that matter, and I had conflicting thoughts about him throughout the story. Her brother and his storyline was good too - a nice little side distraction from the tension of the the interview. Each effort Kate makes is increasingly inventive, and ever more dangerous. Eventually, she’s putting her body and her health on the line, and all the while Joel keeps appearing and disappearing, keeping potential discovery at bay and talking on his mobile to someone. He has surveillance set up everywhere too, and Kate never knows whether or not she’s being watched. The glass is smash-proof, the phones and computers don’t work, it seems there’s no hope of getting out. Written by Hans Van Nas ,its first and only edition was published in July 2014 by Simon &Schubert. Book Review: In a stunning office thirteen floors above the city below, you are all alone with the man interviewing you.

I finished the book because the author has a very engaging style that makes you want to read along although you don’t like the story much. That’s very skilfully done! I hope to read another book by this author, with the same quality of writing but a more interesting story. Oh boy did I enjoy this book! The definition of a keep you up all night, read in one sitting thriller’ My latest thriller THE INTERVIEW is about a seemingly normal job interview that turns out to be something very different and unexpected. It will be published in February 2022. Throughout the book, Kate is always saying, thinking and acting as the walking embodiment of morals, and yet is always banging on about how guilty she feels or how conflicted her actions are making her. It’s jarring and tiresome, which by the end made us feel quite tired of Kate as a character. It’s a shame because undoubtedly the potential to have a badass, nuanced and capable protagonist was right there. Updating your resume, polishing shoes, ironing the dress, and other routine tasks are presented in a very different approach.Gayle has covered almost 150 questions on software programming generally covered by the interviewers and tried to guide how one should draft the ideal solution. The early interactions between Joel and Kate, where the pair are taking turns assessing each other’s responses and analysing their body language were really absorbing, and these sorts of forays into the psychological-thriller genre are where The Interview really shines, in our opinion. This is my first book by C.M. Ewan and I can't wait for more. He might just be my new favourite thriller author. I've seen a negative review of this book saying that how unrealistic it is... well durr, that's what makes it such an exciting story! Of course it (hopefully) wouldn't ever happen but then hey that didn't do The Matrix or Harry Potter any harm did it!

It includes commonly asked questions, strategies, and tips on answering them ineffectively and attractively. This book guides career development seekers about general software programming questions and solutions to target engineering information technology people seeking jobs. In addition, it provides the author’s observations regarding common mistakes made by interviewees. Key Takeaways

There was also twist after twist, some of which left my jaws dropping because I totally didn't see them coming. I love how tiny details that seem innocuous at first end up playing a significant part in the story. So tense and twisty. An absolute nail-biter of a novel!’ - Gilly Macmillan, author of The Long Weekend
