La novela empieza bien. En el primer capítulo se nos muestra unos personajes a los que les ocurre algo terrible: la desaparición de su hija Kiera Templeton. Empezar así es ya la seña de identidad del autor y está muy bien lograda para enganchar a los lectores. La forma de narrar del autor es sencilla y hace imposible poder parar de leer, dejándote con la miel en los labios al final de cada capítulo. También el tamaño de la letra es perfecto, porque pasas páginas sin darte cuenta y eso ayuda mucho a querer seguir leyendo.
