I understand that my PP&SW book is on the shelves of the libraries of the Sorbonne and the Ecole de Guerre in France because one of my co-authors works in both lecturing about military history, and donated copies for use by his students. War Game won the 1993 Nestlé Children's Book Prize in ages category 6–8 years and overall. Foreman was a commended runner up for the annual Greenaway Medal from the Library Association, recognising the best children's book illustration by a British subject. [2] [a] Up front I'll point out that I've loved the movie of this story since I was a kid (not to mention having a huge crush on Ally Sheedy) and, in all honesty, that probably impacted my enjoyment of this book in a way that wouldn't apply to someone who's never seen it.
