I was so excited when I heard this series was being released. When reading other books in the Merciless world, I was always intrigued by Marcus, the ultimate puppet master. He is always in the shadows, pulling the strings and his end game is never obvious. Being that there was a love triangle between Delilah, Marcus, and Agent Cody Walsh, you knew someone would be broken-hearted by the end. Both men loved her with a passion and would go to any length necessary to keep her safe. And Delilah - oh how she loved both Marcus and Cody, but her heart truly only belonged to one man. Willow Winters knows how to deliver the angst and suspense! And I Love You The Most, the third and final book in this epic trilogy.

But I Need You is Book 2 in This Love Hurts trilogy and cannot be read as a standalone. This book give us more of Marcus the long awaited anti hero finally shares some of his story and I loved getting more of insight into the man behind all the notes and intrigue, the angel of death himself. The rules change, the perceptions are completely shifted ... right or wrong, it all depends on the angle you look from. And I Love You the Most is the conclusion of "This Love Hurts" trilogy. The previous books must be read before this one. This book revolves around the 3 of them, somehow they are connected as in something regarding a case. We get a little insight into Delilah and Cody’s past but nothing regarding Marcus. Right now Delilah and Cody are involved, but Marcus and Delilah will have something in the future as mentioned in chapter 1. All three of them have a very mysterious past, especially Cody and Marcus. The fact that Marcus watches them when they are together in her apartment is creepy, and the fact that according to him Cody is aware of the fact that he’s watching is creepier.Willow Winters is so happy to be a USA Today, Wall Street Journal and #1 Contemporary Best Selling Author! What drew me to This Love Hurts is being told that this is a love story between a successful lawyer and a serial killer and I was like YES IM HERE FOR THE ANGST. Yeah. THAT Marcus. The “serial” un aliver 👀. It might *seem* like it’s a bad thing, but… I can’t help but feel a certain way when it comes to Marcus. This book, as it's Prequel, unfortunately wasn't what I was expecting. It was good... But widely open.

If you enjoy romantic suspense, an intricate plot, and intense chemistry, start this mindblowing series today! Characters and love stories started to not make sense. The couples were weird and relationships based on nothing. The whole squad needs therapy man. I hate that girly is not a girlfriend but emotional support placebo psychiatrist. Marcus’ character did not feel realistic. It was just weird. He didn’t come across as the ruthless person he was described as and it put me off. I understand his obsession with main girly, but I don’t understand her feelings towards him and I don’t get the feelings between Cody and her either (except for sexual attraction, real feelings seemed to not have come natural somehow). Sure, there are other characters. Real bad guys–in case you hadn’t figured out that Marcus is more complicated than he seems–friends, family members, co-workers… But this trilogy is first and foremost the story of Marcus, and his relationship with Delilah and Cody. And with this final book, maybe we finally get to see who he really is.
