About this deal

Requires a Fitbit Premium membership. Premium content recommendations are not available in all locales and may be in English only. Fitbit Premium content and features subject to change. Everything the Fitbit Versa 4 does looks great on the bright AMOLED touch screen. With hundreds of available watch faces, pretty much anyone should be able to find something they’ll really like. Similar to Fitbit’s Sense 2 and Charge 5, the Versa 4 has its own integrated GPS. This means you don’t have to run with your phone if you don’t want to.

While not having it allows for a cleaner design, some users missed the option to have a physical button to press when desired. The button is also positioned differently, higher up so Fitbit says it’s easier to reach while you’re in the middle of working out, going for a run, or doing another physical activity. I found the included watch band to be very comfortable. Previous Versa 3 or Sense bands will work on the Fitbit Versa 4, as basically any 24mm Fitbit band can be used. Fitbit Versa 4: The Bad Heart rate accuracy With deeper Google integration, the Fitbit Versa 4 also adds access to Google Maps right from the watch screen, and, coming soon, you’ll also be able to access Google Wallet. With both the Versa 3 and Versa 4, you can set up and use Fitbit Pay. Take a moment to review our complete safety information at fitbit.com/safety. Versa 4 is not intended to provide medical or scientific data. What's in the box The Fitbit Versa 4 battery life will generally last you five to six days, but with the always-on display enabled, that drops down to around two to three days.

With the addition of features like Google Wallet coming soon, however, and better Google integration with the Versa 4, you may find that down the line, the experience with the Versa 4 is more familiar and welcoming. The Fitbit Versa 4 is rated water-resistant for 50m of depth, as was the model before it. This is enough water resistance for swims and in the shower. I found the Versa 4 GPS to be pretty decent. Sleep and health metrics A fully-charged Versa 4 has a battery life of 6+ days. Battery life and charge cycles vary with use and other factors; actual results will vary. When it comes to sleep, both include details of deep, light, and REM sleep stages and work with the new Sleep Profile feature that logs your sleep patterns for two weeks before providing a deeper analysis, comparing your sleep habits and data to a particular animal.

Battery life is a key issue with smartwatches, and while the rated six+ day battery life of both the Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Versa 3 is nothing to write home about, it’s pretty decent in comparison to other smartwatches in the same price category that have to be recharged daily, or even every few days. The Versa 4 is also much lighter now, at just 24g. This makes it 15% lighter than the Versa 3, and it’s also about 10% thinner. It’s this much smaller despite having the same sized display and battery life. The AMOLED screen looks great, even outside! Battery life I’d be remiss not to mention the included watch bands. The Fitbit Versa 4 comes with both small and large sizes included, and the bands are easily removed and swapped with a different band. Charge Versa 4 for 12 minutes for 24 hours of battery life. While the watch charges, tap the screen twice or press the button to turn the screen on. Charging fully takes about 1-2 hours. Fitbit says Google Wallet and Google Map integration will be available soon on the Fitbit Versa 4. Since these are not currently out, I was unable to test them, and there is not yet a specific release date. In the meantime, you can use the FitBit Pay app as a wallet until then. Watch band The detachable bands on Versa 4 come in a variety of colors and materials, sold separately. Charge your watch

Varies with use and other factors. Up to 12 hours with continuous GPS. Get 24 hours of charge with 12 minutes of charging. This is accomplished using 10 key sleep metrics. If you’re a parrot, for example, like me, you have a usually consistent bedtime that isn’t too early or too late, and you sleep deeply, but don’t get enough REM sleep because you often wake up for brief periods during the night. Irregular rhythm notifications are only available in select countries and with select Fitbit products; not intended for use by people under 22 years old or with known atrial fibrillation or other known arrhythmias. See here for additional details. Users swipe up to adjust settings, swipe down to see notifications, and swipe left or right to cycle through various tiles, like weather, exercise selection, your primary goal (set up via the app),sleep score, and more. Something I really appreciate here is the new heart rate tile, showing you the past few hours of your heart rate history. Your primary goal can be switched via the app. Screen Also good here is Fitbit’s further simplified user interface. This is where Fitbit always excels. You have an easy-to-use, simple interface that anyone can understand and jump right into using. It’s a promising sign to see further improvement in an already great area. They both work with the same interchangeable band system, so you can use Fitbit Versa 3 bands on the Fitbit Versa 4 and vice versa. That’s a nice incentive to upgrade since, if you invested in tons of swappable bands for a Versa 3, they won’t go to waste with the Versa 4. Fitbit Versa 4 vs. Fitbit Versa 3: Let’s break down the specs Likely that was Fitbit’s point: to further separate what simple devices Fitbit makes from the upcoming Pixel watch, which will use a lot of the Fitbit fitness and health functionality alongside being a full-on smartwatch. When you're done with setup, read through the guide to learn more about your new watch and then explore the Fitbit app. Fitbit uses your health metrics to give you a readiness score to help you better determine how prepared your body is to take on additional training or exertion. This is really what I like the most about the Fitbit Versa 4, as all of these metrics seem pretty solid. A well-organized set of daily health metrics

The Health Metrics dashboard and the metrics displayed in the dashboard are not available in all countries. This feature is not intended to diagnose or treat any medical condition and should not be relied on for any medical purposes. It is intended to provide information that can help you manage your well-being. Both can be managed through the handy Fitbit app, which affords access to tons of workouts, mindfulness sessions, nutrition information, goals-based exercises, challenges with friends and other Fitbit users, and more. Some content is accessible for free while others require a subscription. The workout screen is very simple, primarily showing you one main metric at a time. Which metric you see can be adjusted with a press. This isn’t going to be great for someone who likes to see a wider range of running metrics at once, but again, Fitbits are more for someone who wants something simple and easy to follow. GPS accuracy Fitbit Versa 4 has improved Bluetooth and sync range. This allows for a better connection to your phone and a much wider sync range, extended from 9 feet to now 30 feet.

When it comes to buying new, it’s a no-brainer to choose the Fitbit Versa 4 over the Fitbit Versa 3 if any or all these upgrades are ones that would make a difference to you. Interestingly, the Fitbit Versa 4 pretty well has everything we said we would want in the smartwatch. Currently, you can use the Fitbit Versa 4 to get notifications from your phone, and there’s a find-my-phone app (which I use all of the time). In the near future, there should be call support to take calls directly on the Versa 4 itself, or hang up or ignore phone calls, as well. Google Wallet and Google Maps For example, when putting together the review for the FitbitSense 2, I was up pretty late and didn’t get much sleep. Fitbit gave me a score of 71 out of 100… and a readiness score of 68, which it says is excellent. I felt beat up and far from excellent. After 3.5 hours of sleep, I definitely did not feel like I had excellent readiness. Bluetooth and sync range There are some significant downgrades to the Fitbit Versa 4 over the Versa 3, with many features having now been removed. I was bummed to see the removal of snore and noise detection. But the removal of Google Voice instead of Alexa is just straight-up bewildering. Missing third-party apps and music support Most people should probably wait for the Pixel Watch. Or while you still can, get the Fitbit Versa 3, which still has all of the features that have now been removed.
