About this deal

NHS Grampian recognises family and friends have an important role to play in supporting people’s recovery. We also understand individual and family circumstances are unique. Please let us know about any specific needs your family member or friend may have and let us know if you would like to help with providing any care. It is important you bring with you a list ofallyour current medications(both prescribed and over the counter). It is most important that your rheumatologist knows this. All permanent members of staff wear a name badge that bears a photograph to help you identify them. If you are referred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) for further tests, they will send you the date and time of your appointment. An advisor will ask you a series of questions to determine your ambulance transport requirements, please have your letter or card handy when you call.

You will receive information on using Hospedia when you enter hospital. Information leaflets are also available in public areas of the hospitals. A specialist is always responsible for the clinic session. You may not be seen by them, but by another clinician who can discuss your management with the specialist if required. We train students and conduct research. Whilst recognising that you need not assist in teaching or research, it is hoped that you will wish to help us if asked to do so. Please inform the staff if you do not wish students to be present during your consultation. Please bring your medicines with you, or a note of all your medication, when you attend for your appointment. Routine voluntary services across NHS Grampian were suspended in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic. We are now looking to remobilise our voluntary services across the organisation and are seeking volunteers to help support our service across Grampian.Children's Hospital has free TV from 7am - 7pm, however Internet is not available on Children's wards. Whilst recognising that you need not assist in teaching or research, it is hoped that you will wish to help us if asked to do so.Please inform the staff if you do not wish students to be present during your consultation. Don't be afraid to ask what you feel may be a stupid question. The questions you have are important and can often indicate an important concern or misunderstanding.

Live rurally or on the outskirts of Aberdeen - you should be ready to travel from 8.30am for a morning appointment and 12.30pm for an afternoon appointment. Some tests may have to be performed before you are examined, and in a number of clinics you may be asked to provide samples of blood and / or urine. Everyonehas a role to play in helping prevent the spread of Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI). NHS staff are doing a great deal, but we can't overcome these problems without the involvement of patients andthe public. How you can help - as a patient This information is to help you during your visit to our hospital. You may also find it useful to refer to the other sections such as General Information. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff.Volunteers will be expected to complete any training relevant to their role and in return they will be supported through induction and orientation and have the support of a nominated Volunteer Co-ordinator throughout their placement. Learning will be offered in a variety of methods, some online and our colleagues in Learning & Development are available to support any volunteer that may require additional support to complete any aspect of learning. If it is decided at your consultation that you need surgery, you will need to have your fitness for an operation assessed (known as pre-admission assessment). This is carried out immediately after your consultation in the Outpatient Department, the Short Stay Unit or in Phase 2 of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Staff will direct you to the right place. If your assessment can't be carried out immediately after your consultation, we will arrange another appointment for this to be done. If you qualify for ambulance transport and need an ambulance for your next appointment please let the staff at the clinic know. If you have any questions about your care or treatment, please ask a doctor / nurse. You may find it helpful to have a friend or relative with you. If you are not sure about any answers, please ask the doctor / nurse to explain further. During your 3rd and 4th year at University, two clinical placements within both disciplines are compulsory. The department at Woodend Hospital welcomes students for placements in both Prosthetics and Orthotics. These placements offer great insight into the daily schedule and workload of a full-time Prosthetist/Orthotist. Due to the large volume of patients seen at Woodend Hospital, students are exposed to, and gain experience in treating a vast array of conditions, working alongside experienced clinicians within varying specialties.
