About this deal

The Xero Shoes 360 model has a multi-directional arrow tread on the forefoot and heel with an additional circle tread at the base of the big toe.

My analytical take on it: they aren’t cushy under your feet, more medium in firmness, with a light cushion, but the upper is padded. They’re quite minimalist, flat, and highly flexible. The Xero Shoes 360, Prio, and HFS all feature removable insoles. The insoles used have a thin level of responsiveness and do a fairly good job at providing an additional layer of comfort for anyone experimenting with and acclimating to barefoot shoes. We design all of our shoes here in Colorado. Xero Shoes are responsibly, ethically, and fairly manufactured in China. We visit and work with our factories multiple times per year. We also have an on-the-ground manufacturing agent who oversees the factories when we’re not there to ensure that conditions are good, workers are treated fairly, and the shoes are made in compliance with all local laws and regulations. The factories we use treat and pay their workers exceptionally well. Prio – Men– On August 9th, 2019 we updated the sizing for the Men’s Prio, it now fits true to size.* For roads, gyms, and non-technical trails, this shoe is great. The sole is a fascinating design that I’d never seen before. With plenty of grip and a wide footbed, the Prios are super comfy on most off-road surfaces until you hit a rouge stone in your path! (Photo: Triathlon Vibe) Xero Shoes offers the Prio model in Men’s, Women’s, and Kid’s. Right at the start of our journey, I bought the kids and I’ll say clearly that they are not for wide, high-volume kids. If your kids are narrow or medium, go for it. They’re a great shoe. But they never worked for my middle son. Some of you may cringe, but his originals have never been cleaned. I’ve literally done nothing. Kids get dirty, shoes dry, they run around some more and the dirt rubs off somewhere new. I do have him wear a boot if I know he’s going to get really dirty, or sandals if I know in advance he’s going to get really wet, but these shoes have been dirty and have been wet, and we just keep going.

Z-Trail– The Z-Trail sport sandal fits true to size. You can confirm your size with the printable templates below.* The Xero Shoes HFS has a blend of synthetic materials and breathable mesh to help keep it light and airy for running-focused athletes. All of these models feature a huarache-inspired design and skeleton as well in their uppers. Laces and Tongue As a teacher and runner, I’m on my feet all day. These shoes are ridiculously comfortable. Let me give you an example. Recently I was asked to referee basketball games all day. Throughout all of the hours I was on my feet, the Prio did not let me down. My feet were well supported and it was like I didn’t referee at all. The rubber sole is highly durable. After 2 years of daily wear, you can barely see any impact on the sole. Similar to our performance section, I’m going to break this construction section into multiple parts to properly discuss and dissect each model. Sole Personally, I’m a huge fan of this because the lighter tongue on something like the Vivobarefoot Primus Lite III is something to keep an eye on when putting these shoes on. InsolesWhen we first moved to barefoot shoes, we were used to massively – I’m talking at least 3 sizes – up-sizing because my kids all have wide, high-volume feet. It was no problem for me, at the time, to do the same in minimalist shoes. I also hadn’t made the mental shift yet to seeing that good shoes are worth the cost, and sizing right, so when I saw this colorway (he loves yellow) on clearance, I bought every size we could, and that meant he started out with them too big. And he then proceeded to wear them 18 months straight, through basketball season, park excursions, and everything else, with barely a break. Boys aren’t much for playing dress up, so here’s the one and only picture I got of him in them for this review. But picture after picture of daily living with us and his friends show he’s wearing these more than he’s not. In terms of natural feel, the Merrell Vapor Glove 6 continues to help define the barefoot category. This shoe is the lightest weight contender in our test group, achieving this feat through its ultra-minimalist design. There's not much to this shoe. The Vibram rubber outsole with 2mm multidirectional lugs maintains grip without sacrificing ground feel. The recycled mesh upper is thin and breathable. Where there is extra material for abrasion resistance, it's also thin and minimal. Even the lace design is minimalist, utilizing cordage for both the shoelace and the lace rungs. All of these factors combine to create an ultra-lightweight shoe that fits like, yes, a glove, and provides comfort, agility, and that barefoot shoe feel.
