These gentlemen are giants in the English choral music scene, and personify the English choral tradition in everything they do. So it's a pleasure to find that they have included many carols from other countries, as well as the English ones. It's very hard to find non-English-language carols, so this is a nice little collection. Maybe they are my own personal foibles, but apart from that the 100 CfC is generally more useful than the separate volumes. This does simplify matters if you are out carol singing as you only need one book, or if you are trying to sing in procession whilst carrying a library of books. On 29 December 2021, it was announced that a new volume, Carols for Choirs 6, would be published in the summer of 2023. A poll was released to suggest the colour of the new book, the most popular colour being purple. [6] The volume was released on 13 July 2023, featuring fifty carols (both originals and arrangements).

For ease of navigation as you're singing, the verses are in Roman type while the refrains are in italics.Carols for Choirs 1-3 and 100 Carols for Choirs are a special case in this series, in that 100 Carols for Choirs was made up of significant portions of Carols for Choirs 1-3 with additional works.
